Zon basses - is everything OK ?

WOW!!!! I didn't realize they were still producing the Manring Hyperbass, very nice.
Yep, although they now have a truss rod I'm told that is accessed through the back of the body.

Oh man, did you order that F Bass through Fret Spot? They claim to carry that one exclusively. I wanted one but didn't want to wait the two year build time. So I bought this one instead. I live in the same town as Fret Spot and was able to play it before buying. I plucked 2 strings while it was unplugged and in the gig bag and knew right away it was a keeper.
Yes, ordered through Donovan, and it'll also have 16mm spacing at the bridge, a 34" scale, and a sweet walnut top. I once was inclined to order a fretless TJ6 but sadly I came to see the placing of such an order as too risky.

How long ago did you place your order?
For me, it was about 26 months ago now.
I made a deposit in Sept 2022. It did take a little longer than expected but I did make some changes along the way...switched from gloss to satin finish, matching wooden pickup covers, additional pickup with electronics
Would they do a 6 string version of this bass?

I think this was more referring to the monthly influx of "omg someone should take them to court".

Hey thank you.
Hey thank you.
I made a deposit on
11/16/23 I was told they have been some setbacks ..whether… machinery breakage.. and the last was a pin router. I understand all that stuff… I was told I would have my instrument at the end of August as I wanted to take it on the road with me and it just seems like it delay after delay. I hope everything‘s OK. They make amazing instruments… Ive spoken to Martin several times he’s always cordial and professional. I will say that this thread made me a little uncomfortable, but I have faith.

"Uncomfortable Thread" isn't that a Pink Floyd tune?

I think you should expect minimum 2 years of leadtime...what ever is on the order sheet...+/- depending on the complexity of the build...

And to manage your expectation well I would not make a plan with an instrument until it's in my hand

Place the order, forget about it, and one day be a happy new ZON owner!

You described my plan to a T. I ordered a Sonus 8, with a select burl top and transparent purple finish. Now I'm just waiting...

Wow. I've been away from TB for years and noticed this thread yesterday. Just finished reading the entire thing and don't even know what to say. I applaud the Zen attitude that Rumblefisher seems to have adopted, but conducting business this way is unacceptable. I know this isn't the case for many who play, but as someone who makes a substantial portion of my income from playing/recording, I can't afford to be without an instrument. Also, the older I get, the more I understand that time really is the most valuable commodity in life. To waste someone's time IN ADDITION TO having their hard earned money is the ultimate double whammy.

That said, I hope anyone with an order in receives their bass in a timely manner and that it's everything they hoped for and more. I just hate to see people get treated poorly (especially if they're the kind, patient type that Rumblefisher seems to be - would love to have him as my doc!).
