My Sigma...

I LOVE the way it sounds with Elixir Acoustic Bass Guitar Strings - no zing, great tension and they keep their appearance and tone for a LONG TIME

You're #24 but I can't see the pic.
No need for a number. Just showing ABG solidarity.
Besides, to paraphrase WC Fields... not sure if I want to join a club that would have me as a member:)

Takamine B10 and EG-512 (fretless)

We accept both fetishists and non-fetishists, so everybody's eligible :D

Hooray for ABGs!

That's a nice one, you're #26 :)

what is that below the string?:hiding:
I'm not sure I know the english word for it, so I'm not going to type gibberish :D
Anyway, do you remember those old Wild West pianos that had some sort of rolling mechanism above the keyboard?
This reminds me of that thing, though I'm not sure if whether they are the same, because this has pickups on it :eyebrow:

is that thing playable?

It is if you're a Hindu deity :D

But I know this thing is supposed to be playable:

lo that thing reminds me of that thing from Animusic 2!

let me muster up a pic...

EDIT: OUT_OF_TOON, how much money and time will the person spend when that monster needs a string change?

I'm looking for a decent Acoustic bass, can anyone recommend one that wont break on men after 6 months?

Takamine EG512.
I've had mine almost six years now. Gigged it for close to three. Solid build, although I did have to replace two of the tuners in the past year. Its got good acoustic volume as well. Picked it up on ebay for ~$350.00.

This one is still my fave :D

Proof the Acoustic bass is every bit, if not more in my humbly biased opinion, as beautiful as acoustic guitar.

But I know this thing is supposed to be playable:

I believe that the upper two neck's strings are drones (played open and left to ring) while you fret the... fretted neck. I wonder what it sounds like....

Edit: I just noticed the ones on the back, and now I'm just as confused as everyone.

I would love to say "go out and play some and get what you like", but the selection at most stores sucks. I like Michael Kelly in that lower price range, but if you're serious and/or can get one used, I hear good things about Tacomas. If you have money to burn and/or are amazing at the ABG- Kinal Kompact.

Just thought i might chime in about this instrument. Pat Matheny has it, (or a replica, but im pretty sure its his and his alone), and uses it. I got to see it in concert, prett cool thing, and yes a bunch of those are drones. But he was tapping basslines while playing other stuff, really cool. Video of it in action

As have I, but since I live in the UK the availability of Tacomas is almost zero. I have found a few of the Olympia acoustic basses on European websites.

I had actually played a Takamine G series on the same day as posting this, it was along side a couple of Vintages and another brand, and the Takamine was certainly the best one there.
