Ampeg cabinets that fit under the original V4B head

I have a 1987 Ampeg catalog and a 1989. The '87 is pre white piping and it shows 27 inch width on the smaller cabs (the 810 is 26" wide) - the '89 catalog shows white piping and 24" wide bass cabs. I also have a 1984 SVT brochure (MTI era) - it only shows the head and the 810 cab - but it has a price list (pictured) with it. The price list is interesting as it shows a 2x15 cab - which may be these?: Unusual Ampeg B25B cabinet sighting

Ah ha! Very interesting price list, thank you. And a slant-front 410! Maybe those mystery cabs are B300's. I wonder exactly what years the Ampeg-Altec connection was. I can't find squat on the interwebs about the B300. I think I'll start a B300 thread.

There’s always what I got, early 70’s Ampeg V9 9x10”.

Ampeg's spec sheet for the V9 lists the cabinet as being 24" wide. I suspect this may be a typo. What is the exact width of yours?

Massive, wider than an 8x10". Alot of times you have to turn it sideways to get it through a doorway. I think they're roughly 27"-29" wide? Also wider than the folded 2x15" V4b cab (which I own).
Problem though... best of luck finding one, seriously. It took me a long time to get my hands on it and I haven't found but one or two others for sale in the country during the time I've owned this thing. A good condition one I found, ten years ago, sold for a little over $2000(US Dollars) in Canada. Someone offered $1500 for mine and I turned it down, I probably won't find another.

I asked this question in a thread I started and received no responses. Maybe someone following this thread has a thought on this question:

If the two cabinets below were loaded with the same drivers, and, let’s make the assumption that there are no baffles inside of either, and the same amount of fill/insulation, will there be a significant difference in the way these two cabinets sound, based on the different shape and slightly different volume of the cabinet? Each one is 27” wide, but one is shorter and deeper (SVT-410e) and the other is taller and shallower (B40).

If I’m calculating it right (HxWxD=Volume) then the B40 has a bit more than the SVT410e, and whatever difference the speaker make to the amount of volume is the same for both cabinets:

The volume of the B40 = 11,340”
The volume of the SVT410e = 10,368”

B40 - a direct-radiating, sealed 4x10, 8 ohms, 30"H x 27"W x 14"D

SVT-410E - a sealed 4x10 (no horn like the later 410HE has), 8 ohms, 24”H x 27”W x 16”D

In both cases the cabinets would be 4ohms, if that makes any difference.

I always seem to have questions about things like this, but this is the best place to learn.
