The Dark Drive is very crunchy. I like pairing it with the Bass Fuzz to get some really narly tones. I think Boss missed an opportunity not to include these xtra bass amps right the beginning. A common complaint I kept seeing is the lack of bass amps. I think the GX 100 is an excellent deal.

The Fat Tube and Solid Stack Amps are freaking amazing! I'm mostly using the Fat Tube mostly but when I want that GK sound I'd say Boss did a damn good job with their take on it.
I haven't used the Dark drive much since I haven't set a parallel chain yet but when I'm ready to go down that rabbit hole I know I'll get killer results.

In between songs I want to change preset while in tune/mute mode. The name of the preset is then minuscule unfortunately. So I color-code the LED of the foot switch that I use for preset switching like this:

preset 1 color OFF=RED ON=RED
preset 2 color OFF=BLUE ON=BLUE
preset 3 color OFF= GREEN and so on.

When I run out of colors I want Boss to introduce the new Core with better UI : )

It'd be great if the preset name would flash up as you changed patches , or perhaps more of a 50/50 sharing of the screen size when in the display showing the foot switch effect names.

Exactly, something like that. IMO there is nothing wrong with the screen itself (size, pixel-size , monochrome..), it is how the screen is utilized. Also take for an example those dots that indicate on which screen of the menu you are, could they be even smaller?!? It would be so much better if the available pixels would have been used smarter.

My guess is the new Core will have exactly the same kind of issues except then with a color and touch screen haha! But who knows...

I think there should be more work done on the AIRD amps. In particular the Resonance setting. For the life of me I can't hear (or see) what it does. According the the GT 1000 Ultimate Guide it's some sort of Attack and Release setting on the lower frequencies. The SAG is great, got that worked out. Just feel as though the Resonance it's not doing what its suppose to. Could be just me. I saw the same query on another forum though.

Just me dreaming. I actually don't mind the expression pedal but if it needed to be removed to increase the screen size and add buttons then it would be the first thing sacrificed.

A basic 3band eq on the side of the screen. Leave the bank up and down as their own buttons. Bring C1 up next to C2/tuner
And give two more presets/stomp boxes to the bottom row.

Few lines to report my experience.

I've got the chance to use a GT1000core for 3-4 weeks and the sounds I obtained (simply modifying the presets) were good and the bandmates were liking it.

I ended up returning it because I wanted to use it without any other pedal, but a) the flanger, chours and phaser were too subtle for my taste, and b) the envelope filter like effects were not so good (I compared those to an MXR Envelope Filter I like).

Even with this drawbacks I was impressed by the GT1000core and I think it's a solid choiche if you are open to use it with other stuff.

Thank you,

Fmb

Does anyone have a setting for the wah pfx that has the start/end land at normal tone? I can have it switch off when it hits min/max, but it's not as smooth as some "real" wah pedals, and if I leave it on but all the way up or down it kills the tone. Or is that just a tradeoff of digital fx I'll have to deal with?
You may want to try adjusting the curve of the wah. P27 of the manual.

It looks like Boss is going through the process of developing a "product for every budget." I guess from a business standpoint, it's something they have to do if they want to continue with RnD. But there's stuff in their 500 series pedals that could go into a new flagship board, especially the MD 500. They could also (or should) add the SY 1 as well. Tone Capture might be a nice addition.

400 euro

There is nothing 'new' on this device. I will be disappointed if the new flagship will be just the touch screen slapped onto a GT-1000.
