Canadian Basses...

OK. We got it. Feel better?

When a bass looks that sexy, it could have been could have been fabricated in Frankfurterville, and I would still feel lucky to have it... I say we spread the mustard on real thick, add some onions, as well a little shredded cheddar to top everything off...

... and there will be zero separation of dog and bun, as well as penalties for dipping said dog, or bun, into the condiments...

... the humanity.

Which Canuck bass did you buy?

Which Canuck bass is, in your opinion, the best.....and why?
Can't say which is best, though I've played all the usual suspects. But I did buy a Godin Acoustibass - that's the one that precedes the A4 and the solid body ones. I think it's the best bass Godin ever made. Mine's fretless with an ebony board. The only negative aspect is that it has serious neck-dive, but that has never bothered me. Black nitro finish over spruce top and lime wood body, LR Baggs system. I put Thomastik flats on it and it sings like a lark. It's with me for life.

Here's a couple more pictures of a couple Dave Reimer basses Ive owned, for anyone interested in Dave's work. Even Vail Johnson was diggin' on that surf green P style Reimer;-)

I've owned a Godin SD4 since 2002. Its a really well made and nice playing bass. Survived a ton of gigs and never once let me down.
I would also love to have one of the three pickup Shifters. Very cool bass.

Back in the '80s I bought a fretless Godin L.R. Baggs Acoustibass which I guess is the forerunner of their current A4 - but with a much higher build quality than the current model.

This one isn't mine. (I'm too lazy to get it and take a photo right now.) But it looks like this:

Beautiful instrument that has an unfortunately touchy piezo and a preamp I never really warmed to. Took me awhile to figure out a setting on it I could work with. But once I finally did I was very happy I made the extra effort. I keep telling myself I'm going to put a Shadow preamp in it some day. But I've had and played it unchanged for about 30 years now so I'm guessing it's probably never gonna happen.
