Club Trickfish!

I got to use my minnow as a DI the other night. It’s excellent. I noticed the master volume doesn’t seem to affect DI out. Does the gain still push the DI? Sound guy said my signal was much hotter than what they had before. They liked it a lot. They specifically mentioned liking that they were getting down to 40 hz. But this caused me to play softer as I didn’t want to cause issues.

I’ve used it through an interface, but not to a sound board like that. I’m just trying to figure out collective wisdom on gain/volume settings on the minnow.

anyone have experience with the 600w 8ohm 212? I know trickfish is one of those "reference sound" brands, but I'd be running an Ashdown ABM through it. Wondering if the trickfish cabs can do the Rockin' gnarly tones, as well as they do the clean and clear stuff

Hello everyone, newbie question here. I recently got back into bass and see there is a used trickfish 1x12 cab in the classifieds here. I’m using this cable which says it has NL4 connectors. Everything I’m finding says that the trickfish 1x12 cab uses NL2 connectors. If my research is correct, NL4 connectors won’t work in NL2 receptacles. Does anyone know if this cable will work with the Trickfish cabs? Thanks in advance.
According to this thread here on talkbass, it will not work.

I bought a NL4FXX-W-S terminated speaker cable (from Thomann). I can confirm these Speakons do fit into my TF112 and my Bullhead Mini 500 just like NL2FX Speakons do. Today I wired up a new speaker cable with two NL4FXX-W-S connectors (only used the 1+ and 1- terminals) and it works and fits just like NL2FX's. No problems whatsoever.

Excellent, thank you.

Went for a second TF112 instead of the larger TF212. I found a used TF112 for a good price in excellent condition. Lovely little setup, really packs a punch.

The BH1k most certainly rolls off the highs when the knobs are set to their center-detent "flat" position. Of course, you can roll in more highs with the 4k or 8k boost, and the preamp is very well voiced, but it's not "flat". The roll-off is especially noticeable when compared against a nominally flat signal path like a J48 into a wide-band transparent mic preamp.

@ryanowens, are you guys still planning on releasing the mini combo sometime soon? Tks
Hello. Currently the Mini combo is undergoing regulatory testing to be certified. Once that is complete we will make a production run.

We have several items in the works right now and plan to have these new items shipping and available by NAMM :)

Thanks.

So my 3K arrived last week…

I’ve long been a fan of high power amps used at “normal” volumes. Bass notes are noticeably quicker and much more forceful—just a whole lot more enjoyable (imo/e) : )…

Still have plenty of exploring to do…but after my initial test drive, I knew this amp’s something pretty special. Currently running it in my music room, choosing between two pb options >> 3K effects loop.

My other amps on hand: DB751, SVT-3PRO, Eich T900, Berg HP2…and, just let go my Vanderkley Spartan (also Pascal module)… All sound different/great to my ears, but the 3K has insane more headroom!

I have no doubt the Trickfish cabs are fantastic, too…but I’m very happy/heavily invested in Bergantino (HG410X, 2x REF1 210, 2x NV610T) cabs, and the 3K sounds phenomenal paired with them.

Thx to @ryanowens for all the helpful advice!

I bet running the 3k with an NV610T plugged into each channel would be worth the price of admission!

@ryanowens I noticed the master volume on the minnow doesn’t affect DI output. Does the gain? I’d assume it pushes the transformer. I usually set it just below red for gain.

Btw, the sound guys love the signal I’m sending, it’s just hotter than the other bassist there.
Hello, the Master Volume only affects the AMP OUT. This is to allow you to make changes on stage to overall volume without affecting the level of the signal sent to the sound guys.

Glad you are enjoying it!

Hey guys, I'm just catching up on this thread! I am based in Asheville, North Carolina, so I've been dealing with the massive destruction from Hurricane Helene and have evacuated with my family to stay with some extended family in Durham, a few hours away. Needless to say, it's been insane there. And it's really lovely to plug back into the bass community for some normalcy!

I'm so glad to see the 3K's making it out into the world and that you guys are digging them. I have a 3K and a pair of TF112s with me in the Raleigh/Durham area; if anybody around here wants to check it out, I'd be happy to demo.

Anyhow, nice to see all the activity here with you guys!
