i seem to remember this one floating around the last few years, because every once in a while i get excited about replacing my old walnut one with the black headstock, then i browse some older ones, and then finally i remember that mine was only $265 at pittsburgh guitar in 92 and that maybe i should just be happy i got 10 fun years out of it before it needed a full restoration which i couldn't afford

Those are some of my favorite Gibson basses, but I would t pay that for a mint one

I have a G3 so am pretty familiar with the type. This looks to me like a Grabber with the body cut down.

Looks like maybe someone had the neck lying around and couldn't find the body to match it, so they just made one and bought all the other parts and hardware. Looks very wonky indeed.
