Was SWR a part of that? If memory serves, their doors were shut in 2006
I believe so, but I thought SWR was closed closer to 2012. FMIC was doing whatever they could to raise cash, as the cost of Kaman acquisition and GC's overdue invoices really put FMIC behind the 8-ball for the following 6 or 7 years. Fender directed Kaman to do whatever it took to stop hemorrhaging cash. If that meant cancelling leases on production facilities, laying off employees, liquidating parts, it was done.

Side note: FMIC bought Kaman at the worst possible time. That was during the huge economic meltdown of 2008. Credit dried up, and lots of companies closed due to a shortage of cash. Lots of banks called in notes even from business's that were operating successfully. It was indeed a dark time. And GC pretty much stopped paying everybody. There was a real ripple effect, as when most music instrument companies largest customer stops paying, life pretty much sucks. Gibson also suffered from GC not paying.

Tuck and Roll Forever (sounds like a tattoo)

Shouldn't we make a distinction between the glory of a hand wired tube amp and a garden variety early solid state that just happens to be covered in tuck and roll Naugahyde?
My first "real" amp was a Plush as pictured below. Still have it and it's worked fine since the 70s with no real issues.
A Plush will heat your home and give you a spot to rest your tired head, at least until it bursts into flames:

And if that's not enough tube wattage for you here's another American tube classic:

Recently, a thread was started about discontinued basses that we love and miss. I’m curious as to everyone’s same thoughts on amps/cabs. I was a very loyal SWR guy for years, and I miss everything they did (thank God Aguilar came along). Fender’s Bassman series (mid 2000s Indo models) destroyed anything in that price point. Ernie Ball also once produced a bass amp (with matching cabs) called an Audiophile, which I had the pleasure of testing at the summer NAMM show in 2001. Glorious. As far as cabs, I dearly miss the sound (not the weight) of the ol’ SWR Goliath series. Another snappy and killer cab was the Eden 410T, a simple, more compact 410 with a horn, and one rear port. Arguably, one of the punchiest cabs I’ve ever heard. Lend me your thoughts, fellow floor rumblers.......
I miss my Standel MCIIB/SAM30B set up. It was a 250-watt (might have only been 200-watts?) piggy back set up. The head was just a preamp and super light. It had a powered cabinet with two 15" speakers stacked vertically with 4 round ports also stacked vertically to the left of the speakers. Speakers were perfectly matched and very sensitive. It was actually louder than the acoustic 306/361 (also a preamp/powered speaker set-up) and the Ampeg SVT. It was a very deep cabinet that reflected the sound coming out the back of the speakers around and through the ports. The ports put out a lot of air. If I stood within 3 or 4 feet of the ports, it would flap my bell bottoms this was the early 70's)!

I bought it in 1971 because my '66 Fender Bassman couldn't keep up with the two Vox Super Beatle amps that the guitarist and keyboards used. Indoors I couldn't run it above 3 on the dial (9 o'clock) because it was just too loud. It was stolen in 1976 along with my '65 Fender Jazz Bass and my two mics. Unfortunately Gibson bought Standel and they disappeared. They have recently re-surfaced but are only re-making their early guitar amps. You can see part of my amp in the picture below. And yes, that's my '65 Fender Jazz I'm playing there with the Fender Black Tape-wound Flats.

My Ampeg SVT He112...
I love this thing, another one would make my rig a really killer. I can find the 115 version only and cojsiddered going mismatched since wattage, etc is the same on the two versions.

Had a Yamaha PB-1 that I donated to charity before I figured out it was probably worth something.

Ran Carvin cabs for a long time and still have one. Very reliable and relatively light weight. I’m still using two of their heads and while they’re not for everyone, they work for me.

Traynor TC112. One of the best single 12 cabs I've owned without breaking the bank. Single 12 celestion greenback, nice tweeter and attenuator together with two speakon and two 1/4 connectors. Nicely (front) ported and ample for small to medium size venues and the 25 lb weight is easy on the back at the end of the evening.
