Discontinued amps/cabs

Both this amp and cabinet are discontinued. But I don't miss them. Because I still own them. Purchased new in October of 2002. No plans to part with either amp or cab. Eden WT-400, Aguilar GS 212.

I haven't read all the posts yet, so I don't know if this one was already mentioned: I have an Ampeg B100-R that I am quite fond of. I miss these lost loves: Sunn Concert Bass, Rickenbacker combo amp, and of course the old Ampeg B-15.

There are a couple of ways to deal with that. One is you keep your old Goliath (and your old heads), which I did. The other is that you go on a years-long hunting spree for any of the Golight neo cabinets that they made before they died, which I also did.

3 15s and a 4x10. I'm still looking for another 8 ohm Golight 4x10 - if I find one I might get rid of the 15s. They all sound remarkably similar to the Goliath cabs. But only 56 pounds for the 4x10 and 42 for the 15s. I rarely take the Goliath out anymore, as that 95 pounds, boy, you sure feel that after heaving it into your vehicle.

I take my 220 head out all the time. It's light and loud.

Everything I play through is discontinued save for the GK MB heads. Which are a marvel. Great amps.

The newer SWR gear was very creative, inspiring, and awesome. I had a fair amount of it. I had the 210 Golight, 115 Golight, 410 4 ohm Golight, MM2 Preamp (into a QSC PLX1804), and SM400. I should have gotten pair of each of them while I could. I had a kind of informal endorsement from them at the time. I wasn't getting it for free but they were giving me killer deals on the stuff and swag. Seems like somewhere there is a pic of me with John from Fender floating around. Its a shame they had to shut it down but the crappy economy pretty much killed off a great deal of gear companies.

Oh and BTW the GK MB heads are discontinued.

The Euphonic Audio VL-210 hasn't been produced for 20 years or so (mine is a rare 4 ohm version). Pretty power hungry, but with at least 800 watts it can keep up with cabs twice its size. I use it all the time and am grateful to have it.
The two preamps shown, Alembic F2-B from 1976 and Kern IP-777 from 1998, are treasures as well. Either of those into the thankfully not discontinued Demeter Minnie 800D and Begantino NV 212 comprises a rig of doom for old school tube flavored goodness.

Have you had any problems with your WT-400?

Had to replace the original preamp tube (no surprise). Since then swapped a few around. My ears really didn't notice a significant difference between tubes. And the on/off switch. Thankfully, the switches were available from Eden back then. I purchased their entire inventory of four at the time. :sorry: That must mean I plan on keeping this amp for quite a while. Other than the on/off switch, totally trouble free.

The 250w Carvin MB115 Combo and 115MBE extension cabinet with neo speakers was my first serious amp rig. I was very disappointed when two years later they closed down the amp division. I might not have a lot of amp experience, but I think this rig is excellent, compact, reasonably light and sounds great.

Had a Yamaha PB-1 that I donated to charity before I figured out it was probably worth something.

Ran Carvin cabs for a long time and still have one. Very reliable and relatively light weight. I’m still using two of their heads and while they’re not for everyone, they work for me.
In my book, the PB-1 was the best solid state bass pre ever made. I still own one.

Fender bought them with another company and after a while closed them down.
Mr. Genzler then started Genzler Amplification, and TB's Agedhorse one of Genz-Benz's amp designers went to Mesa. Agedhorse currently takes care of all Genz-Benz repairs and services at a great price so no worry about getting an out of production product with them.
So Fender killed SWR and Genz Benz? Bastards!

It used to be that cabinets would be made for several years before they were retired. For the moment at least the MAS 4x5.5 or 4x6's are no longer avaliable. Then there's the Walter Woods MI-400-8
an amazing analog amplifier that weighed 9 lbs.

I have this exact same cab and love it and mine is 4 ohm too... I didn't know they made an 8 ohm as everyone that I have seen has been a 4 ohm cab.
