Haha, oh man, it's been a while. I totally forgot I had a number and how many times I have responded with an update Thanks for the reminder. That's another beautiful setup there, Thom. Thanks for this latest update, of many, since your initial post in, and induction into, The Club on March 1, 2020. But you are still member #1191 in the Fender Rumble Club. We appreciate your continued participation and new acquisition! That's awesome!!
That’s why the number belongs in your sig!Haha, oh man, it's been a while. I totally forgot I had a number and how many times I have responded with an update Thanks for the reminder.
It's there now. Haha, and that's why I was asking. I wanted to add itThat’s why the number belongs in your sig!
So...along this line of discussion, I looked up "Tube preamps". SW has a rackmount one by Ashdown for 'only' $650. Do we really wanna pay an extra $??? for a Rumble with a tube preamp?(not me/I).Plugging in a BT thingy at the aux in pretty easy if needed , and no need for V4 release.

I have yet to hear a rig with a non-tube amp, having a tube preamp only that made a bit of difference in making the amp sound like a tube amp. I s'pose if one really wants a tube sound-which no one listening will even be able to discern-one could fork over $2K for the ACB 50(50W/55#), or the Super Bassman(300W/65# + whatever cabs), but that kinda defeats the purpose of the all inclusive, lightweight, portable, inexpensive[relatively]Rumble line.
My first real bass amp was a 63 Bassman(~45W)+ 212 cab*. Neither one was what I called 'light', but I was a lot younger-and that's what was available. My R200c comes very close to duplicating that sound with more oomph. And the coupla times I've played through 2 daisy chained R100s is even closer. FYI, I don't use any pedals, I get all the tone I want outta the Rumble's knobs and buttons(VINTAGE always on).

YMMV. Tweetchie zone.
I've been thinking since that was first proposed that we'd end up with a Rumble with a cost closer to a Bassman.So...along this line of discussion, I looked up "Tube preamps". I had a 50W B112 'peg*. It was 'OK', but it never gave the tone I wanted. Traded it for some PA gear. I was using a cumbersome Kustom K150-6 at the time. I bought the 200cV3(Nov 2015), used it once, and promptly sold the Kustom. No regrets.I have yet to hear a rig with a non-tube amp, having a tube preamp only that made a bit of difference in making the amp sound like a tube amp. I get that the stock Rumble (V3) may not be everyone's tone, but I happen to like the tone and the last thing I want is that stock tone altered in any way. I already have what I like in tone with my Rumble . The last thing I want to do is having a new combo or Rumble version and then have to try and get that tone back again.
Buy a different combo brand if one wants a different tone the the Rumble line. Don't mess with perfection.
... ... ... I don't think Fender will ever offer a Rumble with a tube preamp.

Truer words were never spoke. That's what the7ender Bassman line is for.
More true words, most especially so in gigging situations.
Howsomeever, at home alone, though, even I can hear* the creamy tubeyness of my Bassman 500 tube pre-amp (and ICEpower power amp for very light weight) versus my non-tube Rumble 500 combo, and it is positively to die for!!!

*Remember that I'm the one who cannot hear any significant difference between the R500c's 10" ceramic speakers and Bassman 115 NEO driver, when the 115 is used as an extension to the Rumble (so, same exact signal)!
Too much distortion for me, but surely a big sound. I see he's using a dyna-comp to good effect. I was considering springing for one of those.
Oh good. I’m sure he’ll take my comment with all the care it deserves.Note.... i forward your msg to him .
For years the amp makers have worked their keesters off to provide us with big, powerful(expensive), clean amps then people wanna distort the outta them.Too much distortion for me, but surely a big sound. I see he's using a dyna-comp to good effect. I was considering springing for one of those.
Those need some polyfill in them, so they don't sound so "boxy".And add this behind you:
