Fender Rumble Club

What sort of preamp / DI boxes are folks using? I want good tubey clean and switchable OD. I see the JHS Punchline has compresser too.

I find the built-in OD on the Rumble sounds ok with Vintage engaged, but it's not subtle. And hard to have a properly balanced switch between clean and OD because they each need different EQing. And not using Vintage loses the compression effect.

I use a MasterEffects Super 800 Plus preamp with switchable boost/OD. For a top notch tubey clean, I'd go with a RedDI + separate OD, but that gets pricey and heavy.

For OD, I'm using a Wampler Tumnus Deluxe. Had the JHS Violet been out when I bought the Tumnus, I might have gone for that.

Overdue post, but sad to report my 200 wasn't quite doing it for me. Happily I found a solution, really just needed "moar stack". The boys have got a 200 and 500 to keep them snug:

Does that give enough SPL for a medium sized gig w/o PA support?

Assume regular rock or country music (no Reggae or EDM or DeathMetal).
I haven’t had a chance to try, other than outdoors with 75-100 people dispersed amongst trees growing 6-10 feet apart, where it was fine. But the points @LeMaartien raises are key.
A pair of 200s or a 500 (especially with extension cab) would definitely do it but cost a good bit more.

If one doesn't care about them being the same size, a 100 and a 200 together are sweet, or use whichever one is sufficient.

Question: If I use a preamp pedal plugged into the fx return of my 500, can I still chain another Rumble by going from the 500's fx send to the fx return of the other Rumble?

In short, I'm wondering if going into the fx return of the 500 has already bypassed its fx send.

Send comes out of the internal EQ and preamp, and Return goes into the power amp. Yes, if you plug into Return, the internal EQ and Pre are bypassed.

Could use a reamp pedal to connect the DI out from the first Rumble to the Return of the second.
