Fender Squier Sonic Series

Exactly what I wanted to do with a white one. Looks nice! How did you get the control plate to fit?

I Googled ' does a Mustang pickguard fit a Bronco bass '
It got me to this link -

Dropbox - Bro-Stang Conversion Plate.pdf - Simplify your life

There is a PDF file you can download at 1:1 size that gives you the correct shape of control plate to make that will fit over the Bronco body rout.
You cannot use a Mustang control plate as the Bronco rout is longer and a slightly different angle.
I made mine from a chrome cover plate for a UK sized twin socket

My Bronco showed up yesterday and I am totally diggin it. There was a weird layer of crud that on the pickguard which I blame Musician's Friend qc for. Fortunately it came off with the plastic film though I did have to go over the edge of the pg with a wet q tip. I should probably give them some credit too since intonation and action were fine.
The neck is kind of on the beefy side, which I like, seems rock solid. I put some GHS Brite Flats on it and it thumps like you would want it to. Judging by the rounds which it came with, it wouldnt be a problem getting a brighter, more modern funky sound either. Even the single coil hum isnt that bad. Tuners work fine, bridge looks good, no fit & finish issues whatsoever. I would not hesitate to gig this bass and will be soon.

Hi there,
Just here to give some feedback :

Uninteresting points :
- Body has no shielding cavity (expected given the price point)
Btw, I can't say if it's a one piece poplar body but I can't see any wood separation coming through the finish like on my Ibanez RC520.
The varnish is weak as scratches start appearing quite easily (maybe it's just mine?)
- Unknown potmeters (smooth now, only time will tell)
- Classic cheap resistance (but does a nice basic work)
- Pickup has foam under the hood

Interesting points :
- Screws attaching the neck are as thick as the ones from my Jazzbass Paranormal 54.
On the attached picture, from left to right : Sonic Precision Bass, CV JB 70s and Paranormal 54
- Opposite situation for the screws attaching the bridge as they tend to be thinner.

Black "accastillage" would look sick on it #]

the blue p bass.. with a 1.5.. is cool af.. put a red tort 30 degree route.. pickguard and duncan design 1/4.. with a series parallel.. pull pot and 1k pots.. I could see it as signature model from the mid 2000's.. yep

I'm thinking of ordering that blue sonic p bass. Eventually I will turn it into something like this with a red pickguard and white Dimarzio Split P pup :D:

Bit worried about the neck though. Is it really that chunky? How does it compare to Fender modern C shape necks or Sire neck profiles?

223j cap.

Spring on each pickups screw , one of the early day symbol of Classic China build P bass.

Still mildly interested in the Sonic Blue P, oddly enough prefer a wider neck, but my first bass ever was a P copy with a jazz-like neck, so it's not a big deal. However I may change the pickup and tuners if I get one of these, which would be a bit more expensive than $219.99 in the end.

Is the nut cut nice and low for the P bass?

Just got my California blue Sonic P Bass - really nice! bought direct from Fender - 7 pounds 14 ounces, fit and finish look good, tight neck pocket, great setup out of the box, neck feels really good - not chunky at all, pickup sounds fine - I had already bought a replacement in anticipation that it might suck but and I don't think I'm going to use it. I'll dig deeper when I get off work but 1st impressions are great.

Ok I looked under the hood of the 2023 Crafted in Indonesia Sonic Precision Bass in California Blue - mini Alpha pots made in Korea, green chicklet capacitor .503J, both cavities are black paint shielded, the ceramic pickup has concentric circular grooves in the top of each magnet - not smooth - and it measures 10.5 resistance. The tuners and bridge look exactly like the ones on my Squier FSR Jaguar H bass. The nut is higher quality than the cheap plastic I usually see so it really must be synthetic bone :>) and its cut nicely, the strings are the ones with colored ball ends that remind you of D'Addario but the colors are a little different. Really no downsides here and if I had any comlaints it would be the neck appears that it has no finish on it so its real pale(but it feels great) and the pickguard is flimsy 1 ply plastic but it does have that 50's P bass vibe with the maple neck. The mini pots were not necessary in order to fit in the cavity but they are smooth and responsive so I'll keep them for now. I did install a MIM Player P pickup for comparison and the stock ceramic is a little hotter but the Player might be a little rounder but both sound fine.
