Fender Squier Sonic Series

I disliked the fit and finish of white single ply pick guard, so I changed it out with a metal one.

Since I was in there, I also swapped out the anemic stock output jack with a Switchcraft. Total weight (also with Jim Dunlop Straplocks) is now up +5oz to 9 lbs even.

Dude, that sunburst looks better than some Classic Vibe or even some Fender I've seen... what the heck? Personally the output jack was fine on my California Blue. What does your neck mentions, Indo or China? If you didn't swap the pickups, I'd probably say you got an Indo model. AM I RIGHT??

Thanks! Yes, this one is Indonesian. I ordered it online from Guitar Center, and it came perfectly setup right out the box. At first I adjusted the truss rod a quarter turn for lower action, but a few days later I had to adjust it back a quarter turn.

I'm loving the Gold Anodized Pick Guards on Ps. In fact, I like it so much I put one on my black Donner P.

Strange influence of colour on Sonic P bass sales.

A few weeks ago I had to reserve a California Blue P bass with a retailer before it came into the country to get one in that colour. Today I was able to get a sunburst example (to put flats on - Roto77s?) without any trouble.

So would anyone like to comment on why the blue one sold out long before the sunburst? Is it more than differences in the numbers of each being made or imported?

The California Blue is a sorta novel color option at present, a fairly unique shade very close to Maui or Miami Blue… black and/or burst finish P basses never hard to come by…
Good point - you can also still get black ones on the 'Bay over here.

And what are the odds on a California Blue Bronco for next year?

I just realized than none of the sonic precisions posted here (both China and Indonesia) have the "skunk stripe" in the back of the neck (while the pictures in the fender site have it-but it happens all the time, mistakes in the official site)

Wait, no, false information, the Indonesian ones have it: Squier Sonic Precision Bass - California Blue
ah sorry I got confused and I thought that yours was an Indonesian one... and just saw that had been discussed before in the thread as well
So :
  • Indonesian: with skunk stripe
  • China: no skunk stripe
and from the examples so far it seems that: China -> Europe, Indonesian -> USA ?

Apparently, yes! But I've also seen an Indo one in France! Very weird. No real logic whatsoever. Concerning the Squier CV70 Jazz in natural finish, I've seen the USA is getting China Grand Reward with quartersawn maple necks... I've yet to see one in Europe.
