G&L Custom Shop Pricing

I'm gonna go with "probably." We wouldn't know for sure until we try to place an order like that.
Now that I look more closely at my LB-100 headstock, I don't see any reference to "Guitars by Leo". Is that something they did in years past, or is it maybe just on certain models? Now I feel like I need to go look at a bunch of headstocks. LOL
Well, my only G&L is an '89. The one other I have sold was a '95 that didn't have it either. I haven't ever seen a G&L in person that was from this millennium. But some of the new ones have them, I think.

Here's the first G&L Custom Shop instrument to pass through our doors! This means that we are now officially a G&L Custom Shop dealer!
This guitar was a special order for Ryan in MD. We got a nice surprise a few weeks after we had placed the order. Ryan had spec'd out a slightly different neck, but the Deep V neck carve was what he wanted. G&L had this gorgeous AAA flame maple neck partially built but without an order to go with it. Since it was already a Deep V shape, they made Ryan an offer he couldn't refuse and he wound up taking this neck off their hands and getting a nice deal on it.
So this first Custom Shop experience was really a great one from my perspective. David Brown (the main Custom Shop guy at G&L) was just on it. He was considering options that we didn't even know about, and he went out of his way to reach out to both me and Ryan to make sure we that understood exactly what he was proposing and how it would impact price, delivery time, etc. Talk about personalized service!
Stupid me, I didn't take a picture of the Custom Shop case before I shipped the guitar yesterday... suffice to say, it's nice. There's a large embroidered G&L Custom Shop logo on the inside of the case that looks really swanky, and you'll be staring that in the face every time you open the case. Should cause a smile for years to come.

This color is Yellow Fever, which G&L discontinued last year. They still had a little bit of that paint left, and they were happy to use it on a Custom Shop order.

Also - just a heads up, G&L's prices are about to go up for 2021. Should happen sometime this month. We can still slip an order in at 2020 prices if we're quick about it.

I am really curious how this sounds. How does it vary from a single-coil mod on a stock 2K? Congrats on a gorgeous new flame.
I haven't done a careful comparison yet, but so far I'm pleased at how similar it sounds to a normal L2000 considering that the pickups are more Jazz locations than L2000 locations. I'll do a thorough test and post the results here soon.
Any updates on pricing for 2021? Also, is Greg still the one to contact? I sent him an email several weeks ago, and he never replied.
G&L has yet to release a 2021 price list. They were serious as a heart attack about doing so late last year, but they must've had a change of heart for some reason.

I just updated the pricing info for the custom shop in the first post of this thread. Everything went up about $400-$500 when comparing the old price (75% of MSRP) to the new street price (MSRP is no longer a thing).
Post #1 has been updated to the 2023 prices.
Some highlights:
- They've included the CLF L-1000/L-2000/L-2500 & the L-1000/L-2000 S750. They've always been willing to do those, but I always had to ask them how to price it. So nice.
- Looks like they've introduced a 5-string Matador? The Matador V.
- A few finish changes, some added & some went away
- Looks like the handwound pickups went away.
- Two new neck tints: Light Toffee and Dark Toffee
- You can now get a Wenge fingerboard!
- Abalone Dots on the fingerboard is now an option.
