Harley Benton block 800b

What was the 500w head?
It is a G&K MB500. To compare, that has a warm sound while the HB has what I would call a "very clean" sound and the sound controls can contour to what I want. I had read people complaining about the tone controls but it's just a different sounding amp. Each brand has it's own sound I've found - an Ampeg sounds different from a Peavey or a G&K, etc....

Can anyone that's bought one of these confirm that you can bypass the preamp/EQ by plugging directly into the effects return?

I've got a Darkglass Ultra pedal I'd like to run as a preamp, and my current head (Terror Bass) bypasses master volume when connecting via effects return, which isn't ideal. I'd quite like a cheap but beefy backup head to run the Alpha Omega into, to save spending a grand on an AO 900 head.

Hi 800b owners - I just bought one of these off Thomann and received it the other day. Its a MKII version.

Just wondering, does anyone have a problem with white noise? Mine makes a really bad hiss even on mute or with the volume and treble at 0... I might return it

@ReeV0
I have one running a 4x10 + 1x15 Fender Bassman stack. No hiss on mute. A hiss can be heard if the mids & highs are full with the horn on, but otherwise, I've never noticed any white noise in normal playing position (everything at 12 o'clock).

Thanks, I guess I just have a faulty one. Before I bought it I seem to remember readings reviews that mentioned it had a very high noise floor.

Yes, ICEpower, and you can't get this module by itself for any less $$$
I have commercial accounts through my business and its not worth me buying a replacement module, so I'm buying another 800B as a backup, not because of any issues or doubt over it, just because I like to be prepared (and I consider that to be professional). And they're really inexpensive for what they are.

What I don't get is @ReeV0 issue with hiss.
I don't have any hiss issues. The pre is really basic.
