Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

How about pics?

Here's 3 that I quickly took this afternoon. I apologize for the poor image quality. The tailpiece has the Karl Hofner (KH) insignia with the violin on it. Rugby tuners are a nice fit as is the control panel and pickguard. Had to make a minor mod to the bridge in order to get the pin on the pickguard to line up.

Will take a few pics this weekend outdoors of it and my 60th Anniversary 63 500/1.

Gorgeous!

Hi All

New to the group. Just wondering if anyone can help me date my new (to me) Hofner Club Bass? The serial number on the back of the headstock reads… Y0601E022.
Thanks for the help!

Hey there, this was a pretty good old thread I used. Basically you’re not gonna have an accurate dating for your Club unlike the German Hofner, but you can get a good idea of what it *might* be if it were made in the German factory: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/hofner-bass-500-1-how-to-find-year-made.1467488/

They look good I haven't seen one in the flesh yet.
Thank you! I really like the model, even though the neck profile is a lot different on the Shorty basses. Specifically the necks are wide and chunky. I prefer the narrow necks of the 500/1s. The neck on my 68 500/1 is the most comfortable I have played. Nonetheless, these Shorty basses are still comfortable and offer some variety.

I was looking at your picture and thought the nut width looked wide so did a search & it came back, at 42mm.Which if I'm not mistaken is the same as the HCT 500/1. I to prefer the slimmer neck of the 60's models it just feels better in my hand after all these years .
