Very nice indeed Sir .
Guess I'm also in the club now. Found a dead-mint HCT-500/1 including case locally for a bargain (2nd hand Ignition-money), came already strung with flatwounds as an added upside.
It feels weird and quirky, but is very well built, and sounds really good. Needs teacups though!

Good looking bass & even better when you get a bargain, enjoy it .Guess I'm also in the club now. Found a dead-mint HCT-500/1 including case locally for a bargain (2nd hand Ignition-money), came already strung with flatwounds as an added upside.

The Ignitions are fully hollow and don't have neck binding. Neck binding I standard on the HCT models, and they have a sound block in them.Question for Hofner owners:
Is the current Ignition series the only way to get a bass with neck binding?
I want a Club Bass, full hollow body (Made in Germany ) but without the neck binding
AFAIK, hollow body made in Germany without fingerboard binding gets you the Green Line...I want a Club Bass, full hollow body (Made in Germany ) but without the neck binding

Don't they only come in the Violin form, not Club? You can get the Artist model too, which is the cheapest German model without binding.

The necks on the Ignition models are wider than the German models and HCT models. If neck width is part of your struggle there ya go.This might be a bit of sacrilege, heresy, or blasphemy (never can remember the difference) but what other than a Hofner gets close to the the tone of the Hofner in a bass that feels and plays more, well, traditional? I ask because the tone of the Contemporary Club I own is quite nice but I struggle with the playability and controls a bit. I'm going to take some very fine grit sandpaper to the neck to take off the gloss. I find it quite difficult in warm temps and I've done that to other basses and can't wait the years it will take to happen naturally.
Do German Hofners play much differently from the Asian models? I'd hate to spend that much money on an instrument that I will also struggle with.
Thanks!.
Does wider neck also mean wider string spacing? The necks on the Ignition models are wider than the German models and HCT models. If neck width is part of your struggle there ya go.
