How Long Have You Owned and Played The Same Bass?

Yes. Bought my Hamer Cruise in 1999, 18 years ago. Plays much better now, had a full setup a few months ago, including new wires, pots, fret work and new shielding.

The longest I've had an instrument is around a year. It might stem from my becoming accustomed to yearly contracts in my working life, where the scenery just changed every year.
I think I've found "the one" after all my shopping & playing basses of all kinds. Even today I was playing it side-by-side with the SRX that I've owned since April & was blown away by the timbre, yet again.

Squier Pro-Tone P/J. I purchased new in 1998 and have modded the bejezuz out of it over the last 20 years. First picture is not mine but is exactly what they look like new. The second picture is one I took a week and a half ago with the strap my wife got me for our 4 year anniversary.

My main axe is a modded Marcus Miller Jazz that I got new in 2002. I've had a couple of short lived affairs with 5 strings, but the Marcus has been what I really take to gigs for about 15 years.

A '77 Jazz my dad bought me for Christmas in 1980 from the first owner. I am using it in an interesting project "a funky take on the early Beatles". Same bass is in my avatar, the first bass I ever owned.

My 1980 Ric 4003, bought new in 1981. So...that's about 36 years. It's also still my favorite one!

I ordered the short scale bass from the California factory in early 1975 and received it several months later along with a hardshell, plush-lined case.. so, 42 years.. same passive, all-maple bass.

I really like that. I have a parts bass that I've been working on for way too long, and it's gonna have a similar look. Your picture just reinforced that I chose the right colors.

I don't really play it anymore, but I still have my first bass, a craptastic Harmony Marquis that I bought new in 1982. Plywood body *and* neck.

Still have my first high quality bass and it's still somehow my overall favorite. An 82' issue G&L L2000. Original owner. I have others which can do very nice different things but this one will always be "home". My Stingray 5's ( fretless and fretted ) give it some rather stiff competition though.

My 2nd bass, a'65 Vox Cougar I bought new in high school. It still comes out a couple of times a year. Then came an '88 Squier Jazz that's still in use. MIA Fender P from '02 my main squeeze.

I have enjoyed playing this 1983 Fender Elite bass for 34 years. I had a Artec on board fuzz installed to augment my regular fuzz.
