Bass teachers don't fully understand resolution and so it might be difficult to find one to teach you this. But a jazz pianist, guitarist, or sax player can explain it perfectly to you. Also, jazz upright bass players understand resolution as it plays a part in how a great walking line is performed.Resolution is extremely important in music. I can't show you here how this works. But I will tease you a little bit by say that you won't be able to think of practically any melody or bass part that doesn't include it.
Sad to say, you probably won't find any bass teacher that knows about it either.
Oh, P.S. The bass line that was played was played on a F7 chord going to a Bb chord. The bass player played on the D string, a third fret F down to a first fret Eb and finally an open D before playing a first fret Bb on a Bb chord. Had he substituted the open D for an open A and then played the Bb first fret note, he would have had a logical and musical resolution the moment that he played the Bb note.
