Double Bass Most interesting jazz double bassists under 40?

Amazing bassist. I saw him play an astonishing set with Lee Konitz. No amp, Joe Labarbera on drums. It was the perfect jazz gig.
Was that at the Regattabar? I saw them play there and it was sublime.
It was in San Francisco years ago. It would make sense that they had played some gigs together.
Those three for sure. I couldn't tell how old Katie is, she plays and speaks with a lot of maturity. Her newest podcast with Rufus Reid is great and her playing is inspiring. She said she was 12 when Ray Brown died on the Rufus podcast so that puts her right at 30.
Linda May Han Oh, Thomas Morgan, Ole Morten Vagan (he's 41 though), Jordan Sand, Katie Thiroux, Nick Dunston, Miller Wrenn, Lisa Mezzacappa (she's 45 but making some amazing music), Kim Cass, Brandon Lopez, Kyle Motl, Petter Eldh, Luke Stewart, David Tranchina, Jonathan Richards, and Elsen Price are a few that come to mind.

Love Mr. Kowert's work with Punch Brothers and Hawktail. He's pushing way beyond the boundaries of bluegrass, though!

+1 on him; just saw Pete Zimmer share a video on Facebook from last year where he was on a gig with Yasushi, playing "Speak Low" as a ballad. Great player.

For sure. Beautiful players, both of them. Zach is not very jazzy but an incredible player nonetheless. They should make a duo album!
Anyone else impressed with how tasteful/restrained the newer school of players tends to be? There aren't any real "shredders" for the most part. Just supportive bass playing and good sound. I don't see anyone doing Gomez type runs or anything(not that there is anything wrong with Gomez!).
