Double Bass Most interesting jazz double bassists under 40?

+1 on him; just saw Pete Zimmer share a video on Facebook from last year where he was on a gig with Yasushi, playing "Speak Low" as a ballad. Great player.

Another vote for Yasushi Nakamura. I first heard him this past summer on a record with (the also young and talented) Christian Sands. Man, what a great sound. Love the duets posted above.

Also agree with the Linda May Han Oh recommendations. And she is equally dangerous as a composer.
 
Alex Claffy is happening! I just heard this guy (on my German bass) in concert last Thursday. He was here locally as part of a Juilliard affiliated jazz camp in Aiken SC, the 4 faculty members did an opening night concert (which didn't stream). Great player, great sound, great ideas.
