[NBD] Barncaster Jazz Bass made of reclaimed Pine wood and great stuff!

I like your post and your bass. Good job!!! Looks really nice.
It makes me feel like this is something that can I would love to make for myself as a winter project.

Just go for it!! You will have a great moment of fun and feeling content when it's done!

Looks sick. I have one of these but it's an electric guitar telecaster body finished with a red hue. Got it from the same guy.

Where can I see yours? :)

When I read “barncaster” I would have thought tarnished chrome hardware, but that black looks flippin’ sweet! Fantastic job.

I was hesitant to use chrome. As you can see, in the middle of my original post, I use a very damaged chrome bridge and a set of Rotosound roundwounds to align the bridge with the neck while waiting on the black bridge to arrive. I didn't like how shiny the chrome was compared to the body finish itself. Sometimes I like to have something to contrast, but I think the "honey" headstock and the golden brass strip do make that contrast. I might install gold strap buttons instead of the black, but we'll see. Anyway, thanks! :)

I got a JazzMaster body from the same of guy. Haven't' put it together. I am going to use my Strat neck . My Strat has been converted to a Baritone

Just do it! I'm also thinking about doing a guitar... already have a neck. :smug:

As beautiful as the front is,.... I'm head over heels in love with the backside.

Just incredible.

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback! :woot::)

Great thread, and that is one beautiful body.
The bass came out killer.

There is a charm to those ceramic pickups as well. They are unsung heros.

Here's a pic of my tele body from the same seller.

Honestly it might seem counter productive with the Black Nylon strings, but the Ceramic pickups give them a "near" electric double bass tone! If I want to sound a little more electric bass, I can bump the mids a little and voilà. Anyway, they sound how I intended and that's the most important. I have 3 Precision Basses and two of them have Ceramic pickups, too. Also, not all Ceramic pickups are equal. I have a third pair and I don't quite like these. But the one I decided to keep in my basses, are there for good reasons. :)

your "barncaster" is a real beauty, @InstantEctobass, and unique! sounds like it went together smoothly (a good omen?!) and i'm guessing that it plays wonderfully, as expected. nice job on getting the parts to come together the way you wanted --- congratulations on your new instrument!

It indeed went super smoothly, aside that I later realised that the tone knob is DOA (dead on arrival). I will soon replace the pots and probably the cap to 100nF.
Thank you!
