Got this pickguard shipped from Amazon for... 7 € only. It fits perfectly and is held into place without any screws. I thought it would be nice to showcase the wood and underneath while still getting some height bump for my fingers. What do you guys think of it, visually speaking?

What a fantastic piece of wood! The fact that it's blue makes it even better to my eyes!

Don't forget to share it with those who will love it to pieces!

If a pickguard had to be installed, I'd say it was the only choice! Much preferable to covering up that grain & stain or punching a bunch of holes in it! ;)

@InstantEctobass meant to ask you- how does the neck joint feel on yours? With a donor neck on for fitting sake, my tele joint is kinda painful where it meets the neck heel. Big 90° edge with wood ripples. I'm thinking about getting the sander out and smoothing out the edge enough to decrease the palm shock but not to disrupt the structural integrity.

This thread has me questioning why pine isn't more frequently used in bass/guitar construction - specifically for bodies (being that it's technically considered soft wood, I wouldn't want a neck made of pine...) - I'd have to think that any concerns about damage to the body could be largely alleviated with the right finish and/or simply being careful with the instrument. :bassist:

The 1st Squier Classic Vibe 50s Precision Bass bodies were made out of pine to "emulate" the Ash bodies of the 50s at a low cost. It came in butterscotch blonde, vintage blonde (aged white blonde) and I think even the Lake Placid Blue bodies were still made of Pine wood.

Currently speaking, FMIC is selling American models with (roasted) Pine (I kid you not):

American Professional II Jazz Bass® | Basses électriques

Honestly that body of mine doesn't seem fragile to me, at all. Less than Swamp Ash, honestly.

I asked Pling Ploing to not drill the neck pocket holes for the neck/body screws. But yes, the joint is a little raw with 90° edges. I won't touch it because sadly there will be loss of finish on top. I meant to tell this to the creator as a feedback so he could enhance this side of things in his future work, but it seems like my previous messages weren't very welcome because so far I didn't get any answer from him. I hope that he is just busy with life and that I am misinterpreting because it seems nowadays you can't say anything without risking to "offend" or just simply "annoy" someone. I hope I'm wrong.
