Beautiful. I snagged a MM Classic in Mint Green/rosewood soon after the Classics were introduced. It was when M.F. was offering some crazy coupon deal which brought my price new down to something like $1,125.00 Given my "druthers", I'd have opted for the maple board. But by the time I ordered, I think the only colors left were Mint Green/rosewood and Sunburst/maple. I ended up selling it after awhile. I never cared for the comfort of the single H 'Rays. (I tried another one in the '90's. Thought I'd give it one more chance, but just couldn't bond with it.)

About a year ago I found a HH 'Ray, and I really like it a lot. So I guess I should have tried one (an HH) earlier! ;) Here's my Mint Classic and my 2005 Buttercream HH Limited Edition:

Walked into GC to get strings. Left with this. $1199 plus tax out the door. I’ve been a Fender guy my whole life. Do you think it’s worth keeping for the price? Or could I have done better buying used?
Certainly a fair price for a new Stingray and a great color! Personally, I buy NEW even if it costs more. I'm not interested in inheriting any issues with a used bass AFTER I've paid. Some people do the dumbest things to instruments then dump them on unsuspecting buyers.

I admit buying used can be a gamble. Personally, I've had mostly good experiences. It's a calculated risk.

I understand that you can get lucky with a used instrument but everyone I've ever purchased had an undisclosed issue. They're all gone. My current instruments were purchased new and they're issue free. I am happy for you that you've been lucky. In all fairness, I've certainly had issues with new Basses as well but that's what a warranty is for.
It's all about what you can be comfortable with.

Yes, well said. Often it does makes sense to buy new. In the case of my main player, it was only available used because Fender discontinued that model in 1999. I bought it from a fellow TBer and it was in immaculate shape. I play it every day and love it to death.

That's great! I'm glad it worked out for you.

Of course, that was a great deal! You got a new bass with a warranty for the price of a used bass, what’s not to like?

Keep it! Once you go MM, it's hard to go back to Fender :)
Well...I played Musicman exclusively for over 22yrs. (1980 Stingray purchased new), but I started craving a more organic sound and picked up a P Bass.
It was game over for me. Now I have 3 Fenders and a G&L JB2.
All passive instruments and I'm very happy. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
