New Fender Limited Edition Mike Kerr Jaguar Bass

Meh...I have a Mike Kerr bass already...just sayin...

And I didn't pay near that much to get one. <shrug>

Oh yeah, this is a "Kerrish" SQ 32" Jag (picked up here at TB) modded with lightweight Gotoh tuners, TUSQ nut, Fender high mass bridge and Seymour Duncan SMB4D p/u with series/parallel/single coil switch.

I don't have Kerr's electronics -- just some of it, but I don't need it. If I gig Royal Blood, there's a guitar to double the riffs.

These have been popping up at a couple of vendors now, with no indication of a release date whatsoever. I do love the idea though of a 30 inch Jag Bass that's a bit more upscale than the Squier one from a couple of years ago. And I dig the incredibly named Tiger's Blood Orange. What do you guys think?

And a fairly recent Reverb listing: Fender Limited Edition Mike Kerr Jaguar Bass, Rosewood- Tiger's Blood Orange (MX23075604) | Reverb

That looks cool. Love the look. I am curious what those pickups sound like, and what kind of variations they can produce.

Fender’s QC on MIM stuff has been virtually nonexistent the last few years. There’s no MIM on earth that’s worth as much as Fender charges for them nowadays.

Agreed on that point! And I just saw that the MIJ Aerodyne Precision series of guitars and basses has dropped from $1350 to $1000 at Sweetwater, and I would imagine other places as well. I paid $1,200 for mine in January and am 1,000% happy with the value. It's crazy what a difference there is in quality and execution between MIJ (I've bought 3 new MIJs this year, all fantastic) and MIM right now, while MIJs can be had for less!

I like that this Mike Kerr bass at least seems to be properly thought out, unlike the terrible neck-dive inducing bridge and neck placement of the similar 30" scale Squier Rascal.

What a nightmare that's gotta be to hold and play!

I also like the idea of the different electronics in the Mike Kerr. I like all kinda whackadoodle stuff, though. But yea... the colors are.... strong. Not a gold fan. The blood orange I'm not wild about, but it's cool. This is a lot like the MonoNeon. Just make it as wild as possible. (Similar price point and origin, also)

If they made a MonoNeon or Mike Kerr in some slightly less divisive shades, I'd really think about it. As is, though.... I just can't bring myself to pull the trigger. I'm too vain!

I don't love the gold on orange combination but I think I'd be ok with it if there weren't that one pickup with a silver cover plate on it. Either make both of them silver or both gold. Having one off makes my eye twitch.

Conceptually I like the idea a lot more than I do for most signature models, but yeah, hard to justify buying a new Fender sight unseen these days.
