New Fender Limited Edition Mike Kerr Jaguar Bass

I don't love the gold on orange combination but I think I'd be ok with it if there weren't that one pickup with a silver cover plate on it. Either make both of them silver or both gold. Having one off makes my eye twitch.

Conceptually I like the idea a lot more than I do for most signature models, but yeah, hard to justify buying a new Fender sight unseen these days.
Sure, Mike Kerr wanted it that way, but I have to say it would look better with black pickups and hardware.
Gold on burgundy, yes, gold on black, white, dark blue, dark green, sure, but gold on orange is worse than gold on hot pink.

Yeah, they're too close in color for that to look good IMO. Gold hardware (to me) looks best on black, cherry red, dark blue, etc. Strong, dark colors. I wouldn't ever put it on yellow or orange, anything in that range.

But, to each their own.

I swear that bridge pickup looked silver in the video the first time I watched it.

I'm not crazy, right? Those pickup covers look like they're two different colors.

Love Royal Blood’s first album, but none of their other stuff has really captured me. That plus Kerr being a bit of a wanker (to borrow the regional slang) at Radio One’s Big Weekend this year has soured me on the band in general, but this bass rocks despite everything. Nice to see a signature model that’s actually unique and not just some minor cosmetic changes. I wish it wasn’t so dang ostentatious, though. He played a black one at Glastonbury, which is a lot more my speed. If that one was sold, I would have already preordered. The orange finish I can handle, but the gold hardware with it is a no for me.

Completely unrelated, but: One of the things I initially found very charming about Kerr/Royal Blood was the fact that he was rocking out with a ~$300 Gretsch bass. Looks like he still plays it live (as recently as this year), but I think it’s kind of funny that Fender is selling a Mike Kerr sig for five times the price.

I reached out to Fender and asked how many of these "limited" edition basses would be made. Was told there are initially 450 of them, and they didn't know if that would be the total produced or if more would come in the future. So at least that many of them, curious how long that number will last.

Well... Good thing I ordered one! And struck a few hundred off for a decent deal, too. :)

Man, I just took ownership of mine today... Very fun to play. Feels great in my hands. The wide range humbucker sounds AWESOME.
the bridge pickup is pitiful. It only picks up the G string at full volume, and only barely - if you lower the volume at all, it's completely inaudible. It otherwise sounds fine... I'm super bummed about this. :( I reached out to the folks I bought it from, since it apparently passed through their hands AND Fender's QC without noticing. No idea how they keep dropping the ball.
