Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

So it arrived whilst I was away and I've only just got to play with it. It's absolutely amazing, I think it's the best piece of audio kit I've ever heard.

Thanks to everyone who said it would be worth waiting for - it's worth so much more than that!

And of course massive thanks to Alex and the guys for making such astounding speaker cabinets. I don't really believe the clarity of note you get across the whole range of a 5 string bass through it.

I'm gonna go and hit it hard with the POG2 :D

Being very satisfied to my ' 69er but also wanting another more powerful cab which can move more air than my small Mesa Scout Radiator 15 ", I ordered one Superfifteen last Sunday. Alex announced to me that he had conceived(designed) one another 2X15 " called: Retro 215. It has the same characteristics as the Superfifteen, except that its size are identical to '69er (wider and less deep than Superfifteen). The silver grill clothes hides completely the events in front. With its new size, it is more adapted to the tube amps (low frequencies are fatter but a little less deep than Superfifteen). It shall have to be a little lighter than Superfifteen.
I shall receive Retro 215 toward the end in August / beginning September. I am already languishing to be able to play it with my both amps system (Alessandro Basset hound and Monique preamp + Minnie 800D power amp). :hyper::hyper::hyper:

Well - I guess I may have been unlucky - after a 5 month wait I got my Big Twin aaaand ... it had issues. Got picked up, returned... aaand... issues. Finaly got a replacement cab which worked for a while - and then lost all its mid and treble. At this point I was gonna throw in the towel - but - instead of sending it back again I emailed Alex and he talked me through a check list - removed grill - driver, got access to the x-over - and blow me - the little polyswitch was not properly connected in the terminal block - phew. Soooo - after a year of dissapointment on and off (ordered on 27 July 2013) I now have a fully functioning cab. The sound is truly lush - there is absolutely NO ill defined 'boom' and it'll blast out low C with utter ease. Tight and articulate. It's really sound like a very loud Hi Fi speaker to me! Its not the most efficient cab - my ABM put out 575 RMS and I felt it was running outta headroom - bought a TC Blacksmith (I know Alex - you advised against) which has gobs of grunt. In all - I now have the best sound I've had in 30 years. It just took a while to get there! Ultimately a fabulous sounding cab - looks uber cool - collossal power - just not the best buying experience I've had. Oh - and the handles are a bit rubbish.... Thanks for reading!

I just put a deposit for a Compact, and Alex told me a new, smaller 12" Version of the Compact will soon arrive, for better dipersion and treble!

For my needs we still agreed on the original Compact as a stand alone cab (for now...).

Just got a new (old) amp for my Midget T, and what a sweet combination it is.

I guess I can be added to the club- I picked up a 2011 era Compact from user falconspatriots Did a bit more research and this particular cab has been on TalkBass forum a number of times. Looks like it was originally sold to a member named :::BASSIST::: in Vancouver, CA in ~2011. Looks like I'm the fourth Talkbass member who's owned this cab, but I have a feeling after this weekend's gigs I may be the last. She's in great shape minus the small imperfection around the right port opening where it was damaged in shipping and then repaired as featured in this Talkbass thread: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/r...ps-connecticut-cracked-barefaced-cab-1010153/
I was a bit worried since both gigs this weekend were outdoors where typically my Orange AD200B Mk III has struggled to stay clean with my previous cabs. However to my surprise, not only was the single Compact plenty loud for stage monitoring but it seemed to be loud enough and not get out of control on stage. It definitely had more lows than my old 4x10/1x15 stack- yes, more lows! In a way I'm glad I didn't take my time to save up for a Super 15 since it would have been overkill (but surely lots of fun).
