Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

Has anyone marked their Barefaced cab in some way? The lack of serial number worries me a bit, because there's no way of proving that it's mine (if it happened to get stolen). Although I'm not sure if there's another Big Twin T in Finland :D ... I've been thinking of maybe getting some sort of small metal plate with some number (the cabs "birthday"=date of delivery) inscribed onto it and attaching it to some part of the cab where it's not obviously visible (top of one of the ports for example) just in case.

Someone in the customer feedback section on the website asked Alex if he did serial numbers, and Alex replied that it was a good point and also added, "...we should." I forget how old the comment was. But, maybe Alex is considering it. I wonder what he has in his records that shows what cabs went to whom.

Alex?

Not real convenient, but I bet the drivers have serial #'s.

We've finally sorted out an organised serial number system since we switched to CNC production. We do have a record of all the cabs sold, so demonstrating proof of ownership wouldn't be difficult, seeing as most cabs are still with their original owners and the ones that have moved around the used market are fairly easily tracked.

If anyone has the awful experience of their cab being stolen/destroyed (fire/car crash etc) get in touch with us if your insurer needs documentation!

Thanks for posting up the mailing list link. We're hoping to put out a monthly update on what we're doing, plus new product mailings and so on. It should be quite interesting if you're into bass geekery (and in the future hi-fi/PA/guitar etc).

Ok, Barefaced vs. Fearful. Any opinions?
Both excellent but different.

I have owned the Compact and currently a fEARful 12/6. Similar size but very different. The Compact is designed to be more portable and well "compact" while the 12/6 is about the same height but deeper and heavier by about 8LBS or more. The Compact has a very present upper mid thing that sounds great but not a huge deep low-end. The 12/6 sounds very different. Lots of full lows and good mids too with the 6 inch mid driver. The Compact sounds quite even but doesnt have the same ability to produce low-end.

As I said, they are both excellent designs and I think your choice should be based on what you want the cab to do.

It's all relative - the Compact is a smaller cab (hence the name) than many. Smaller cabs generally mean less lows than a big cab.

I have a Midget (112) which is smaller still and there is no shortage of lows with it.

The fEarful designs are in the same sphere as our Big Series cabs - greenboy and I developed the 15/6 and Big One in parallel. Our second generation Big Series cabs have various improvements but they're not a million miles apart, especially compared to normal bass cabs.

Compared to typical bass cabs our EMS models (Midget/Compact/S12/S15) can generate much bigger lows for their size - the Big Series cabs go a whole extra step beyond that but it's to an extent that many bassists neither need not want. Horses for courses!

Didn't even receive my Big Twin sans Tweeter, and I'm thinking of my next Barefaced Cab... Mmmm I do have a traynor YBA 200 and can't wait to see a pic of the 69'er... That would be a really light all tube w/vintage cab combo (YBA 200 is about 42 lbs, 69'er 65 lbs I believe).... Ok. Ok, lets focus on the upcoming Big Twin with my SVT-7 pro first. Alex- when will your IsoTilt wedges available? Any pics yet?
