One of the reasons I dislike Fender, the company…yeah, I'm about as serious as a Vegas wedding.

Yeah, those few extra dollars would certainly mean their demise.
Especially since they could easily charge $25 to $50 more and no one eould complain.

Please, does anyone actually think this post is 100% serious?
Well, it ought to be serious. That bass looks better than their $2k Elites. If you want matching headstock and a whole bunch of other coolness, go G&L. It's the improved "Fender" that Leo himself knew needed to happen.

I think I’d go all in on matching headstocks if I were in your shoes. I wouldn’t know though, since my wife, awesome as she is, likely still thinks guitar and bass are the same thing.
My wife (who encourages me to play and own gear) has a dislike for non-matching head-stocks, occasionally I take that in to consideration. Since she paid for my last bass and practice amp i let her dislike non matching head-stock.

Oh, for sure. I'm a G&L guy...SB-2 and L2000, both with maple fretboards. A red or orange G&L with a matching headstock is definitely in my future.

If you buy a company, you have not stolen anything.

By association, a company can not be bough unless it is sold. So those "other great companies" you are so fond of did not have pistols on their foreheads when they willingly sold their companies (and thereby their intellectual properties and technologies contained therein).

So, either the companies were stolen along with their technologies.... or the companies were willingly and legally sold along with those technologies.... but you can't have it both ways.

Hear Hear,
Remember, Leo Fender sold Fender to CBS Music and Leo Fender sold MusicMan to Ernie Ball.

My reasons for not liking Fender.
Stuck in the fifties styling.
The majority of their basses have paint, pickguard and chrome.
What natural bases that they DO make have virtually no wood grain figuring.
Natural "Walnut" finish isn't real walnut.

They don't do neck through.
They do't do "hippie sandwich"
They don't do six, seven, eight string basses.
They don't do headless.

Uh.......:roflmao:

Far be it from me to besmirch the name of Saint Leo, but he sold out to CBS for 13 million. I guess he did so because he DIDN'T like money?????

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

"Corporate greed" ......

Any time someone raises the price of cornflakes or stops making a product nobody but you likes or buys a company you admire it can't jist be business. It's "greed". Gimme a break.

I guess Leo died broke? Ha! :roflmao:

Hippies..... whatchagonna do?
Thank those dirty dope-smoking hippies for recording all of your most favorite music ever? You are welcome.

Is this a P or J bass..got a front pic?
Sorry, thought it was obvious.
Looks great, right?

I don't mind matching headstocks with a rosewood fingerboard but I really don't like matching headstocks with a maple fingerboard.

I had a very nice Peavey Foundation with a matching headstock (white/rosewood). Considerably less than $1000. Like this one I found on the web....

That seems to be the popular consensus.
I think it doesn't look bad with lighter colors and maple, compared to black body, maple neck and matcing headstock.

I/m glad Fender doesn't offer basses in that horrible color and a headstock to match it sub-$1,000. That $h!t is ugly.

If someone is complaining about that option only being available at higher price ranges, I'll shed a tear for you.

What I find interesting is many people who complain about price tend to won a bunch of low to mid level instruments. They lack the discipline or patience to save up for what they really want and just given in in the moment and just buy, buy , buy when they have a little cash instead of saving up for something real nice. Sell all your mid-level crappy basses and pony up for what you really want.
