definitely the best bass I've ever seen in my life.
I'm looking at a 74 that looks like your bass, but with the thumb rest above the strings. What do you thing they are worth these days? That's a beautiful bass! All original '73
If you can afford it , then it’s a good price. And it sounds like you can. What do you guys think is a fair price for a 74 P bass in very clean shape that plays great. sunburst, maple fret board, under 9lbs.....I'm eyeballing one now.
Check reverb. I’d say under $4000 if possible. What do you guys think is a fair price for a 74 P bass in very clean shape that plays great. sunburst, maple fret board, under 9lbs.....I'm eyeballing one now.
I mentioned in an earlier post how the 70's pickups were different (perhaps hotter?) than earlier pickups. Is there any kind soul out there who knows any company that replicates the 70's pickups?

'rrotsMy recent NBD post really got me thinking. If Fender were to make an accurate late 60s / early 70s Precision Bass reissue with the correct overall specs, period accurate finishes, and U.S. made, Who would be interested in picking one up?
I have posted about this very topic multiple times, it seems I am not alone in this consensus. This is one of the only classic models that Fender has never made a proper and authentic reissue of.
Maybe they will finally give us one with the new line that will eventually replace the current AO line.
Who here would like to see this done? Thoughts?
Seemed like EVERYONE in the 70’s swapped out whatever Fender put in for a Dimarzio Model P (was there anything else?). That’s the sound of a 70’s P to me, and still my favorite pickup.I mentioned in an earlier post how the 70's pickups were different (perhaps hotter?) than earlier pickups. Here's a lake placid blue 1970 precision
Good question. In one of the side pictures i see a darker blue under the greened clearcoat that is different from the blue under the pickguard.I believe it was once Lake Placid Blue, but at this point, I'd call that "Swampwater green" - that thing sure has changed over the years. Is there an "edge" in the finish on the body around the perimeter of the pickguard? It looks like someone may have sprayed clear (that yellowed over time) on the thing.
I tried a Nate Mendel sig a few days back. If it is indicative of what a '70s reissue would deliver then there is no point, really.
It's like a modern MIM P Bass with an extra pickguard screw and a cooler headstock decal. And somebody has knocked the shine off the back of the neck. Just a basic P Bass with nothing exciting going on tonally or in terms of feel in the hands. A used Highway One P Bass would net you the correct headstock decal, if you wanted to build a similar instrument.
