Rickenbacker guitars blocked me on FB lol

And that in a nutshell tells you everything you need to know about the difference between normal people and John Hall. Half a minute to respond civilly. Two seconds to delete and ban - which seems to be Rickenbacker's corporate policy regarding any criticism pointed their way.

I agree fully that his approach to their customer base is...unique. Uniquely awful. Somehow people still buy their stuff. I don't get it, myself.

Now, that being noted, if the OP even so much as insinuated (and his second post seems to imply this) that Ric was committing an OSHA violation, I'd have treated the post in exactly the same manner as Mr. Hall did. Delete instantly and kickban. That's not an accusation you throw lightly. It gets companies shut down.

So does an action like that since it lends credence to that sort of innuendo or accusation. Best way to deal with an issue like that is to get out in front of it. Issue a denial and a reason for it. Not circle the wagons and go all “scorched earth” on it. Unless, of course, there is a violation.

That’s something many companies have learned the hard way. Too vociferous an action to quash something tends to lead regulators to conclude the violation was either willful, or already known to management.

But even so, there’s nothing the OP might say to cause Hall any concern, other than it might get some employees asking questions. Just watching a video doesn’t give you sufficient standing to file a complaint, so a comment on FB isn’t sufficient to have regulators come around asking questions by itself.

I really hope people don't take it personally if a business person bans people like this when he is fearing for his company's reputation. It's strictly a business decision. Nothing personal. Consider it a learning experience. Most people who are not banned have learned how to be "fake" and courteous in their postings. They are acting, in a sense.

You don't know much about Rickenbacker company do you? John Hall, who runs the company, doesn't care what anyone thinks. If you don't like the way he does business, he doesn't care if you buy his instruments or not. He's pretty much famous for being a Richard Cranium.
They are a "small" company that sells everything they make and are actually backlogged. They don't have any interest in getting larger or adding more employees, they are as big as they want to be. The point about being as big as they want to be is the crux of the whole Rickenbacker attitude. They aren't going to change.

Exactly so. And for anyone who doesn't understand why, I have one word for you - Gibson.
That said, I can't argue with the fact that their customer service - and their warranty policy - could stand some improvement...

Some have had issues, that's for sure. My 76 4001 has had no issues, so I only go by what I hear. The truth is, I could probably sell it for TWICE what I paid for it because it is a rock solid work horse and for every dissatisfied customer, they probably have a hundred satisfied customers. Customer service improvements are in order for the dissatisfied ones though.
