That your band? Fantastic track! Just put it on my Amazon cart.
Thanks for the compliment!

Yes, it was. We did music together for 11 years, until the end of 2008. Besides the Fender P/J on that track, I used my '98 4001V63, '05 Rick Turner RB4-FL, and '03 AV '62 Jazz Bass on that CD.

Yes, actually my new favorite. I love the little bit of growl the J adds to the P tone. Mostly play with my blend knob favoring the P but still get that J snarl in there. May just be the pickups I put in that bass as well??Nordstrand NP4A + NJ4SE. Killer combo

I'm one of the lucky musicians who got a MusicMan Caprice before they were discontinued. The Caprice plays beautifully and sounds clean and smooth with a solid drive.

EBMM could still be selling these basses today if they didn't get greedy and raised the price about 30% when the Caprice started selling.

This bass is why I voted yes .

I played it at one practice that I had it both pickups full and the tone set flat . The whole practice whether playing soft or loud with the guitar players playing anything from Hendrix to Clapton to Petty or even Rockabilly I could hear myself and loved the tone . I'm usually a Jazz Bass player and get my tones that way but the Jazz basses I have and have had just don't cut like this . Nordstrands and Audere 2 band .

I got a P-bass special (MIM passive P/J) for my son. He no longer plays so I inherited it. I replaced the P pup with a 1962 Fender P replacement and strung it with TI Flats. I have always played it with the J pup off, so for me it is a P with a J neck.

I play in a classic rock band. We play a lot of Motown & Stax tunes and my bandmates like the sound I get with that bass (my other bass is a Lakland 44-60). We recently started playing 'Just the 2 of Us" and someone suggested that I try playing the sax break on the bass. With just the P pup it gets buried, but I figured out that if I solo the J pup I get a tone that cuts through. Otherwise the P pup is soloed.

Yes, my bandmates asked for a bass solo!

Same exact pickup combo I have. Sounds amazing.

BTW, the controls are stacked volume and tone for each pickup and what is currently a third dummy knob. I had planned on making that a blend but was dissuaded (I can't recall why). I guess I'm the dummy, because I really want to be able to balance the volume of each pickup. Current pots are the classic "turn it down a little and the pickup goes silent" that I dislike.

I own a Fender Tony Franklin Fretless. It is the best sounding P bass I have ever played, by far. I don't know if it is the ebony fretboard, the pickup, or a combination of everything that makes it sound soooo good. But I never use the P/J pups together. Not that it sounds bad that way, just nothing special. And I never use the Jazz pup solo. To me it is just a fretless P bass with some extra stuff on it. So I voted no.
