Your band is really good! A good friend was in a band called Babik. Gypsy jazz stuff. Well done.
I'm wondering if you ever happened to catch any flack for the band name
yup. Foggy here every day of the year. 70 degrees here when the rest of the world is 100. It’s a nightmare. You don’t want no part of this!I like Morro Bay too, but you guys have to do something about the weather there (fog!)
Don't get me wrong, I love it up there (have considered Cambria as possible retirement location).yup. Foggy here every day of the year. 70 degrees here when the rest of the world is 100. It’s a nightmare. You don’t want no part of this! View attachment 3091013
My old home town, love the Plaza gigs, enjoyed the pics - thanksExcellent stuff.
I drive through, and around SLO county a lot for work. I love it up there.
SLO itself has a cool vibe. Everyone is attractive, healthy, and loving life it seems.
I like Morro Bay too, but you guys have to do something about the weather there (fog!).
Gig looked great.
Cambria gets even more fog than Morro Bay.have considered Cambria as possible retirement location
Sometimes, but on average it's pretty much the same as Morro Bay. Cayucos misses more wind than it misses fog. I prefer to surf in Cayucos because of the wind situation, so I drive between Morro Bay and Cayucos looking at the ocean most days of the week. Summer is by far the foggiest time of year at the coast. I love watching all the Summer tourists from the valley freezing while they play at the beach in their bikinis when it's cold and foggy out, (I'm wearing a wetsuit with hood and booties) because it's their vacation and they came to play at the beach so that's what they're gunna do dang it! Once summer is over and they all go home as Autumn starts, the fog leaves, winds switch off shore, temps get up to high 70's/low 80's at the beach, and we get our Indian Summer. October through the end of January is the best weather, in my honest surfer's opinion. That's when all the locals start having our beach days.Cayucos misses the fog line
Absolutely! I spent last year working in Templeton. I'd often leave Morro Bay where it was 60 degrees at 7:30am and get to Templeton where it was 34 at 8:00am. Then I'd leave Templeton where it was 75 degrees at 3:30pm and get home in Morro Bay where it was still 60 degrees at 4:00pm.The one thing about SLO that is crazy is the temperature change when driving Cuesta grade North.
Summer +15° minimum from SLO weather
Winter -18° minimum from SLO weather
Paso/Templeton have bizarre swings from one extreme to the other.
thanks for bearing witness to my rise towards the bottom. Or fall to the top? Dylan's been bugging me to come over and compare my Moollon with his vintage Fenders, but we need you to bring yours over as well. When you gunna be up near the fog next?youre officially a talkbass nerd. congratulations?
ive got nothing in mb but pick a day and ill come hang for sure!thanks for bearing witness to my rise towards the bottom. Or fall to the top? Well, here’s my first stab at trying to document and share a fun gig, a la @BassCliff.
My home town of San Luis Obispo, California (aka SLO, and home of Ernie Ball Music Man, Bartolini Pickups and Electronics, National Reso Phonic Guitars, and Demeter Amplification… ok Demeter is 20 minutes away in Templeton but close enough!)
I lived in Carpinteria for many years. Same fog thing.
Reyes Point is WAAAYYYYYYY up the coast.Wait!
What?
You know John Carpenter's "The Fog" was filmed just up the coast, at Reyes Point.
I knew I was forgetting something when trying to remember all the local music manufacturers! Thanks for the reminder. I'm way overdue for a trip to Jocko's.Don't forget LR Baggs in Nipomo! Home of California's best steakhouse.
Yeah I remember days when it would be 105 in Paso Robles and Templeton and 68 in SLO.yup. Foggy here every day of the year. 70 degrees here when the rest of the world is 100.
Not sure which steakhouse you mean. Maybe it wasn't there when I lived in Paso Robles. I remember a couple places a little North of there AJ Spurs and F. McLintocks. Then there's always dessert at the Madonna Inn.Don't forget LR Baggs in Nipomo! Home of California's best steakhouse.
If you haven't been to Jocko's Steakhouse in Nipomo, then you need to stop what you are doing right now and go to there. The history of Jocko's dates back to 1838, and the current restaurant building was built in 1962, so unless you're REALLLLLLLY old, it was there, or across the street from there. There's some free live music next Friday if you're looking for something else to do on your trip up to visit Jocko's.Not sure which steakhouse you mean. Maybe it wasn't there when I lived in Paso Robles.
Lompoc boy here, although don’t get there often anymore. 1. Hitching Post in Casmalia 2. Jacko’s (too crowded in summer though) 3. Far Western (much preferred the old Guadalupe location). Fog and good eats. Nothing like the central coast.I knew I was forgetting something when trying to remember all the local music manufacturers! Thanks for the reminder. This same band played the very next night (Saturday, 7/21) at the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center for their fundraiser, basically right next door to the old Far Western Tavern. Funny enough, Far Western Tavern was catering!!! They shouldn't even use the same name after leaving their awesome old location, the ambiance and vibe of that building was half the appeal.Lompoc boy here, although don’t get there often anymore. 1. Congrats on the great gig.
