The Bass That Changed The World!

>>If you are talking about 17 magazine, then we do have a different definition.

17 magazine? Why go there?

I said we had a different definition and you provide a condescending way to represent mine. Well done.

Does that change the fact that Paul is the most recognized bass player on the planet?

FYI in terms of the cultural influence of any musician, bass players represent such a vanishingly small portion of the population their opinion is statistically irrelevant.
Quite honestly, I did not intend the 17 magazine as anything more than the more mainstream cultural thing you had referenced as opposed to what bass players regard as being an influence. I apologize if you found that particular reference as condescending. There was no tweeting culture at the time and Hit Parader didn't come to mind.

If you are good with Paul being "the most recognized bass player on the planet," and don't care to follow up on the reference I provided, that's fine as well. I suppose that reality is what we make of it.

No condescension there either.

You should really work on that passive / aggressive thing you have going.

Just to add a little history to this conversation that isn't in any of the books, Arlis Mcminn of the California playboys received the first 1951 precision to leave the factory in September of 51 when he and his dad went to see leo and according to Arlis, Leo was sitting at a table assembling 3 basses.Leo handed him one and said"Here son you can use this more than I can, take it and show all your friends." There is a youtube video of this bass being played at a ballpark in Calif. I have the pleasure of owning it now, the first Pbass, two hole tug bar number 0017. its had a rough life but:: notice the volume control plate is larger and made from a tele blank and the knobs are in different place as other 51's. also somebody rounded the edges. ( maybe someone can rotate the pic for me)
