The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

That's a good question. I'm actually in the process of building one for myself, which I almost never get to do because people buy all my supplies, but I'll let you know and maybe get a demo up for it.

Right, forgot to put that back. I had initially taken it down because I made a mistake during testing that made me think the current version didn't work, but it totally does, I'm just dumb sometimes. I'll get it put back in the store tonight.

Nice! Would love to run it with the Buster and get beefy boogie tones.

Oh snap!

Whelp... that seals it then...

That order for a Top Mount jack Lab Rat is getting submitted sooner rather than later! :)

I am in the middle of trying to do this to my existing order (slampegg) and the site want to charge me an extra shipping charge. Surely this can be fixed. $10 usd + $20 usd turns into $40 CDN. :rollno:

Right, I forgot that would come up for international orders. Let me see how I can fix that. Hang on.

Okay, the only way for me to do it was create a "digital" product instead of a physical product. So you can use this option https://www.sushiboxfx.com/product-page/125b-with-top-mounted-jacks-no-shipping and it won't charge you for shipping. Since it's a digital product I had to make some file be the "product," so after checkout it will give you a link to download a neat picture of Chicago I took from an airplane :)

Cool, will keep my eye on these designs!

One small thing though: the background on the website makes the dropdown menus very hard to read.

Ah, good note, thanks! I completely suck at web design, so if anyone has any comments on how to improve the website I would be happy to change it. I'll see what I can do about that one!

It's finally time to start an official Sushi Box FX thread on Talkbass! @Sushi Box FX makes amazing little pedals at affordable prices! Let's use this space to talk all things Sushi Box FX. I'll start by posting a pic of my Particle Accelerator Preamp:

I'm (im)patiently waiting the arrival of the Slampegg Bee Pre. It should be killer!

How's everyone else liking their Sushi Box pedals?

By the way, this thread title is open for discussion.

Never heard of them, not afraid to learn, but most of what I do as a musician does not require effects pedals. That said, sure looks attractive.

@Sushi Box FX
Do you find there is a tone difference with sub mini tube pedals cold vs being turned on for a bit?

As in, do you think the tone is better after the tube has been on for a little while?

Thanks!

@Sushi Box FX I see maybe you have a JCM 800 design? I don't see it available in the store currently, but I have a guitar player friend that I might have to get one for if you can build 'em!

I designed one, but the v0 prototype had some issues so I was planning to go back and redesign it, never got around to it. I ended up doing a dirty fix on the prototype and sold it, but it was too noisy for the customer so he's in the process of returning it, so I'll probably just hang onto it :p

Excellent question, I personally haven't noticed any difference. The filament isn't very big (obviously) so it doesn't take long for that to reach max heat. The glass itself and the enclosure of the pedal will take longer to absorb heat, but the important parts of the tube get up to operating temperature pretty quick. Every time I redesign a power supply I do a 3-hour test where I connect the pedal to a looper and run it into my recording interface to make sure it passes signal for 3 hours, as I consider that a fairly standard gig length. I check on it periodically during those three hours, and if there is a difference in tone between first-turned-on and turned-on-for-three-hours my ears can't hear it.

Cool. Thanks for your efforts on this front. Much appreciated. Easy peasy and done.

Nice one Nathan! Just added this option to my 2nd Particle Accelerator order :)
