Two Notes Revolt Bass

@Ross Davies

I love that Two Notes folks are here helping people sort things out. Thank you!! I have a HX Stomp XL and I am considering a Revolt Bass pedal. Question, some folks add an Opus after the Revolt, why? I thought that the Revolt is an amp/cab simulator?

Also, If I buy a Revolt used is there still a warranty and do I get the software?

Thanks again Ross and Two Notes!!

No problem at all - we are always happy to help!

The Cab sim in ReVolt in a fixed analog one that works for some players (for instance in a live context, depending on the band I will use the Analog sim as it works very well in terms of sitting my bass in certain busy mixes); however, for players seeking more options, OPUS can be used as a Cab Sim / DynIR Engine which offers an insane amount of tonal options. You can MIDI link both devices as well to trigger a different cab sim per ReVolt Channel - something I do in trio's and quartets where I have a bit more space to play with tonally.

When buying ReVolt second-hand, you will still get the software but the Warranty is triggered by the initial first purchase. However if you buy a Factory Repack unit from our Reverb store, we offer a manufacturer warranty as standard with any Factory repack item. If you let me know where you are based I can send you a link to the store that serves your market!

Thanks!

Grateful for all the info in this thread, I’m considering the Revolt as a preamp in my rig. Can anyone confirm if the ‘headphone mod’ is now factory standard from Two Notes, so if I buy one new from Sweetwater it’s good to go?

What is the “Headphone Mod?”

I run my ReVolt into an Opus so I don’t use the headphone out on the RV, but I’m curious.

Initially, quite a few users were reporting (very) low headphone volume and two notes was offering a fix for this but you had to send your unit in to the French hq so their techs could implement it. I read somewhere this fix might be ‘built in’ to future production units, hence my question. @Ross Davies

I currently use a shift line cab X for headphone practice, but it would be nice to have the option to use just the revolt for garb & go, travel etc.

We can indeed confirm this is now standard on all ReVolt Bass units! :)

Let me know if you need any more info!

Hi all, potential new ReVolter here. I've read through a great deal of this thread and watched many of the YouTube vids available.

Now, I certainly don't need the ReVolt, but am very interested. My main purposes would be playing live and at band practice. Currently I have a mini pedalboard setup with tuner > compressor > OD > Boost/dirt > [TBC, maybe chorus, maybe nothing].

I was looking into options for a simpler setup and the ReVolt really did stand out to me. I wouldn't be using any of the midi, amp sim, etc, purely just going from bass to amp via this (if I get one). Probably would use amp sim via DI out for gigs, I guess.

For me this would probably be an always on vintage drive, with the modern distortion as an added boost when the guitarist plays his solos (we're a 3-piece). Of course I could add this to a pedalboard along with a tuner, or just have the tuner separate.

Just wondering if it's really going to be worth it to get the ReVolt? I am happy with my current sound, could try a different OD pedal, but the tube feature is really GASing me. Would probably buy one used and sell on if it's not for me.

Finally, is the headphone issue on older models easily solved with a simple firmware update?

Probablt TLDR material. Soz.

I love my ReVolt and the vintage dirt channel is what I use 95% of the time. I have a hard time with other drive pedals because I can't find that good edge of breakup or slight OD that doesn't sound fizzy or harsh on the top end. The ReVolt does that great.

As far as the cabsim on the ReVolt goes, I find it doesn't affect my tone very much. I think there is a treble roll off somewhere in the 3-5k range, but I don't really have much going on up there since I play a PBass with flats. You may notice it more on the modern drive channel. I generally don't use the cabsim, but it is much more transparent than most cab sims, which I find really muffle my tone too much.

I ditched my compressor and just go Tuner>ReVolt>Opus right now as an ampless rig. I am very happy with it.

Thanks for getting in touch - Ross from Two notes here.

We wont weigh in on whether it is worth it as I am likely going to be biased here - however as a Bass Player myself (and having owned far too many rigs in the past), I do use ReVolt pretty much consistently for studio and live work now. Channels 1, 2 and 3!

Regarding the headphone issue, it depends on the batch - it was only the very first batch we released that had the lower headphone volume - we can operate a mod on this but if you wanted pure peace of mind, any new variant purchased now will have the mod as standard.

If you have any other questions, I am always happy to help!
