Post-band practice report:
The two drive channels actually didn't sound so different through a Behringer amp and Ampeg 8x4 [edit: not an 8x4, it was a big fridge style, I cant remember the details]. However, I struggled to get the EQ on either drive channel to a point where it sounded good in the mix. I normally like a good high mid boost, but even with the mids and treble cranked quite a bit it didn't sit well.
I played the second half directly through the Behringer amp and admittedly had to use the "bright" switch to get my bass sounding right.
I normally use Di'Adario nickel strings but recently put on a new set of Rotosound Swing 66 (steel) strings. Given the experience with the direct-to-amp signal I would suspect there is something there relating to the new strings.
Overall, a much better experience playing the ReVolt through an amp and speaker than just through headphones or a small combo amp. However, I'm still not convinced it meets my needs, personally.
