Oh, I know you! We had more than one hundred emails! Comunication was flawest! you had a beautiful bass, very beautiful! with all specs you want! At time! no delays! allways with good vibrations... I remember you had problems to make the set up with your climate (my workshop was in Nasville at that time). But I don´t remember what happend finally... did you tell me? or did you try to send me the bass for a check? or you ask me if we can change a possible trussrod defect? I dont remember it! I did it once (yes, my necks are like rocks, so no too many problems). So you was in silence all this years, no news from you, and now you come here to talk about what? It is cool I don´t erase any of my customers emails.

I chose not to reach out based on the benefit of doubt, time elapsed, numerous stories in this thread, and ultimately my desire to move on.

As for "silence all this years", I posted in this thread several times mentioning my issues starting with that post (#101) from November 2018. It's clear you didn't thoroughly read the thread, then perhaps you might have reached out? I don't know.

I'm beyond any recourse, but I will say that I remain disappointed that I possess a very fine looking instrument that I can't really use for its purpose.

When I said "silence" I mean silence to me! you think I can to know all the comments about my basses here and there? I think you need to admite, and I think you did, that you never tell me anything abut to send the bass for a check!!! I lost contact with you in 2015! Come ON!

Some new things for me this year. After a long time waiting for my Prat bass, Oscar finally contacted me again. We have talked many about a lot of things, particularly his life so I won’t give details about that.

He works on my bass and sent me a picture of the seven neck wood pieces ready for gluing. I’ll keep you up to date with and share pics of work progress.

Nice, VERY Nice!

Well, these things still appear in the market. Seller from Azerbaijan. After all this thread, wouldn't touch that with a 100 feet pole.

nice constructive comment. I think you are missing the point that a lot of people here are talking about the (very) long delivery times, and its silence for a very long time for personal reasons.
For most customers, the quality of its instruments is undeniable, but disastrous communication with customers.

Despite the restrictions due to Covid-19, he still works on my bass and for other customers (check Oscar's facebook page).

the Buckeye's ready for my bass. He's now gluing top and wings.

I'll continue to give you regular feedbacks ;)

And there's a little Tab video. I'll do it with my Prat soon as I received her.

this thread has been an unfortunate read this morning. The issues are consistent with any unreputable, dishonest independent contractors you find everywhere. Builder, contractors and in this case, luthiers, who take payments and deliver false promises and poor, unprofessional communication while acting as though they are doing the customer a favor. Oscar Prat has demonstrated this very behavior in this thread in his replies and argumentative comments to his very own customers in this thread. I am glad this thread exists to allow others who might be otherwise uninformed about his poor business practices to avoid going through the ordeal many have outlined to show his pattern of dishonesty. Prat may have made things right in the end, but that in no way excuses his continued belief that he is somehow the victim and his customers should be grateful that he worked with them. I hope others will avoid this situation in the future by reading this thread

You are right. But we have to be factual to make a wise decision, not emotional.
I had trouble with him in the past. now he works and communicates regularly.
Just like some people have problems with their instruments and others don't.
We all have to compare all fact. Not just saying, it's a Prat bass, it's bad. Kiesel build good bass today, but nothing told us they wouldn't build poopy one in the future. We aren't machine and we all can fail.

thats why the thread is here. to allow us to make our own opinions based on the overall picture. Not just because of the present or the past, but the whole. Personally, i think the thread speaks for itself.

im not sure why you would use Kiesel as your analogy to defend your feelings on prat. Kiesel didnt build his rep based on poor communication, dishonesty and bad business practices. Prat earned his rep and customers have a right to be informed. Prat can work to change the rep he created for himself

Hi everyone,

Well that's a lot of sad news for me.

I have talk about a 12 strings custom bass with Oscar Prat, in November 2016.
After a long talk, Oscar has send me a first invoice (more 3K$), before drawing two different scale plan corresponding to the tuning i ask.
He told me, crafting the bass will take one year at least, so i've wait.
He has continued to answer me until the paypal 180 days was finished, and never answered me again after that point in May 2017.

He has answer me on facebook once time, told me he send me news soon. And after that, every message i sent him stayed unread on facebook.
Someone know if he still on facebook or have disabled his account ?

Hope he still work or have some personnal problem, but i'm disapointed that goes on this way, compared his good reputation.

you have been waiting since 2016. would you recommend this builder to one of your family members or closest friends?

I've just read this thread from start to finish. The goodness or badness or Mr Prat's basses isn't the issue. It is his behaviour towards his customers. The OP didn't get all his money back because he was out fees, which would be significant for the sum involved. Given this builder has flaked out in the past, it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that he could do so again. Trust is easy to lose and harder to regain after it is lost. I would never deal with him after reading this.

In this town where I live, I'm told you can find somebody to wack your adversary, if you want.

That's what I do on the side now that Covid has squashed all my gigs. For a small upcharge I'll also set them on fire. :hyper:

But seriously ...

It blows my mind that people can read thru threads like these, including the old one about a certain cabinet guy, and still lay out thousands of dollars to take a chance.
