What is the best clip-on tuner for tracking a low B?

One of those failed on me and the present one has developed some permanent black blobs on-screen. (And I’m gentle as a lamb with these things.)

Wow... bummer. Mine's been through the wars and still works great. I wonder if I've just had good luck or you've had poor luck....

Weird-I have a TC Polytune Clip as well but it's frequently slow/erratic with the B.

Is it in bass mode? A lot of people didnt seem to catch that the tc has a bass mode which tracks low e and b better.

I use a cheap ebay LED one with no B on it. I just tune the B string on the 5th fret on E

Not sure where this thread should go so mods feel free to move as necessary. I have clip-ons that work....IME Snarks work best with the B but are fragile and break. My TC is a more durable mechanical design but tracks less reliably....what's your favorite, specifically with respect to the B string accuracy?

use the 12th fret harmonic ... all tuners can handle that ...

^^^^I know but it'd be more accurate to tune the open string. The octave up/12th fret harmonic is often a tad sharper, even when the instrument is tuned as best it can be.

No that's just fine. After all, what you're doing there is ringing the octave.

Try moving it around. I have that problem in some places on certain basses but not on others.

I have tried many clip on's, hands down I like the DeltaLab CT-30. Works great on my 5ers.

I like it so well I own 3, they work well on 12 string acoustics too (another fussy instrument to tune imo).

The Snark isn't fragile at all, as long as you take it off and put it away when you're done with it.

I have broken one or two by leaving them clipped to the headstock of a bass in a traveling gig bag.
