What song have you played the most in your life?

I once had a gig where I played "Satin Doll" and "New York, New York" every single night, at least one and often two shows a night, seven nights a week, for three straight months, with only one night off in that entire time. So I'm pretty sure it's one of those two tunes.

Freedom of Choice by Devo...
Here's me playing it at a Halloween party in 1986 (on my Guild pilot)....

I went to Eric Church (night 2) in Denver last night. He really put his heart and soul into the whole 3 hour concert, except...he seemed to mail it in on “Springsteen,” which is probably his biggest hit. I immediately assumed that since that record (and I don’t recall when it came out) he has probably never done a show without that song, and it was clear he loves to change things up and try new things, but he’s probably really trapped by that one.

La Bamba. I made the terrible mistake of learning to sing it in 1990, then had to sing it between six and three nights a week for over twenty years. By now I must have played/sung it at the very least a thousand times and possibly close to two thousand times. I did it last night, and I'll do it again tonight. Close seconds would be Brick House and Mustang Sally, which I also sing, but not often lately. Those three songs always pack the dance floor, so I keep doing them. La Bamba was written in 1683, so it's the oldest song I've ever done also.

Maybe when I die my epitaph should read: He had to sing La Bamba over two thousand times.
