What's Your Favorite Color for a Bass Guitar?

This is an early one. I also liked it when The Beatles had matching bursts with the Violin Bass and Casinos.

My favorite color is a deeeeep blue, so deep it appears black except in bright light. Ford used a nice blue lacquer back in the day. It was not their namesake blue used in their oval, but darker, IIRC it was called nightwatch blue, but a well done application of this blue, then after curing, a well executed polish, and it has so much depth it looks like you could dive in and go for a swim.
It later showed up on Chryslers in an acrylic form and later still as a metallic on some GM models, but the original blue lacquer used by ford is my favorite. It predated the Mustang, but here is a Mustang painted with it.

Also love a deep, deep blue (maybe with some purple? I have trouble with colors). This one's not mine, but it caught my eye:

So I got inspired after reading this this thread (thank you @tb-player !). And as I was reading it, I was thinking "I wonder what everyone's favorite color is for a bass guitar?". I will go first:

My favorite bass colors are Candy Apple Red (or Ruby Red in Ric parlance), Miami Blue, and Royal Blue (or Midnight Blue or Azureglo in Ric parlance).

CAR is my all time favorite color and seeing it on a bass is no exception. I don't care about seeing entry level basses with that color, when CAR is done right, it's done right. My Ruby Red Ric 4003 in my avatar is my #1 bass and it's a stunner in person. The pictures simply don't do it justice! I'm a lucky man to have had this bass for so long! :D

Being a native South Floridian, Miami Blue reminds me of home. This finish reminds me of the warm Atlantic Ocean in the spring and summer as well as Miami Vice and Miami Subs. 7ender made it a color for their American Pro II series and it's absolutely stunning in person. Porsche also makes cars in this color, which only makes it cooler.

While I don't own a Royal Blue bass, this color has been a favorite of mine since childhood. It looks especially sharp with a white, anodized gold, or mint green pickguard.

Honorable mentions for me are Lake Placid Blue, Dark Night, Gold, Orange, and Black.

18.6% of my basses are black, which includes trans black.
8.2% of my basses are red, which includes trans red and shades of red.
1.5% of my basses are blue, which includes trans blue and shades of blue.
1.5% of my basses are gold.
0.7% of my basses are white.

My favorite color is matte finish ;).

I would have said dark blue in the past, but I've found that I really love the look of a matte finished instrument, whether it's black, red, blue, orange, etc. I ESPECIALLY love a translucent matte or satin finish with the grain showing through.

Just a few years ago, I would have said green was my least favorite color and I would never own one. But my favorite current bass is in a greenish finish (Haunted Moss):

It used to be matte black, but got to go with dark green.

Like this for example (though I like other shades of dark green just as much):

Unfortunately I do not own any green basses, but would love to.
Even consider stripping my main and spraying it green.

In order of preference for Fenders, wood grain, a light sunburst with no overdone bright yellows or reds, or black with a good tort.....Ricks? Black with white trim.

I certainly wouldn't turn down a JB in hunter green with a matching head stock, rosewood neck, with white block possition markers either.

i generally like warmer colors like red, brown, yellow, etc, but really depends on the model. gail ann dorsey and tony levin both have me wanting a white stingray, but pretty much anything looks good on a fender

On one level it's a matter of stunning indifference to me what colour a bass is. It's never going to be a deal breaker. So starting from that point I like a bass that might be a little controversial. Got a late 80s Samick with a splatter finish. I like to think of that as 80s paisley. And a Heartfield in dark iridescent blue with a gentle reverse burst and a carbon fibre headstock. Just wrong, but so me.

Not a fan of coffee table coloured basses. But obviously I'd rock and alembic if they'd let me sit down to play it. In a heartbeat.
