Wisconsin Bassist Club chapter IV (to the 4th degree)

No change over is required. All gear is backlined and ready to go. Set up your pedals and bam.. Stage is ready. Several choices in bass amps and guitar amps.
Wow, times have changed since my “fest” days. There was no supplied backline in the years I played there.
One thing I have from those days that’s kind of neat is the business card from David Nordschow’s wife that she gave me when talking about endorsing Eden amplification products.

David made both of my current road amps (DNA). I had to drive over to his workshop (house) as he is just a short drive from where I live. As for backline, I did play the US Cellular stage, so I could not tell you for sure on some of the smaller stages.

It looks like you are putting in a pool by your house??
What gives?

After cutting down all my ash trees (the latest was 22 that the damned emerald ash borer destroyed) my yard looked totally naked, and then an idiot destroyed my rear lawn taking down my neighbor’s ash trees so it was time to redo everything. The landscaper is in the process of removing my entire lawn, filling and leveling it, and then hydro-seeding it. I’ve also had a few new trees planted, the retaining wall in front of the family room replaced, concrete decorative islands removed, and a bunch of new bushes/plants put in.

Our first rehearsal for the Bryan Lee Blues Fest is in the books and I think we’ll have a good show with the material we have planned. One more rehearsal and then the show is Saturday July 13th. I’m always nervous about delivering a good, pro show with one or two rehearsals, but this year’s group of musicians is pretty solid. The bands represented by the five of us on stage are: Delbert McClinton’s Self-made Men, Vic Ferrari, Dr. Bombay, the Groove Hogs, and Tiffany. I’m guessing our combined years of experience of the five of us is around 270. Wow…we’re gettin’ old.

Hey y'all! I'm glad I found this thread, and I look forward to getting caught-up. I play with a few bands in Spring Green (Violet Palms, Sugar Mama & The Rent Check). I like my brandy Old Fashioned sour, if you've got Sun Drop, otherwise I'll probably stick with The Bitter Ken: whiskey, bitters, splash of ginger beer (from The Shed, in Spring Green). My bands don't play out quite as much as I'd like, but we've got a few local gigs coming up, including a split bill at The Sh*tty Barn on 8/16 that we're excited about. I hope everyone is staying relatively dry, and that the humidity isn't causing too many issues. It takes a sturdy bass to gig outside in the summertime in Wisconsin!

Welcome!
Try a brandy old fashioned ginger ale - it's really good!

Well this afternoon’s rehearsal went sideways.

Our band leader’s wife’s co-worker failed to show after her shift was done so she had to keep working (elderly home care worker). They only have one vehicle so they couldn’t make rehearsal. At least she was making double-overtime for the holiday weekend!

So instead of jammin’, the rest of the band did some landscapin’ at our lead guitarist’s place. Digression: do all lead guitarist home owners let their yards go? 😁

Anyways, we’ll be playing a friend’s & family gig there in two-weeks and we decided that the back yard needed some…help.

So, in a way, it was a successful “rehearsal”.

The Bryan Lee Blues Festival in Two Rivers was, once again, a really fun gig to play. When you’re on stage with a group of excellent musicians and you have a crowd that’s really digging’ what you’re doing’ it doesn’t get any better. I love playing a festival when people get up and dance with the tunes you’re laying down.

I forgot the Kolache Bros were playing in Manitowoc’s Washington Park on Tuesday evening. My gig at Petskull ended early at 7:00 due to tech issues and I should have stopped to catch a tune or two. I was home with scotch in hand when the memory kicked in about the Kolache gig.
