MAN! I wish I had known this sooner. It cost me $700 to get my B-15 and 2x15 cab and head shipped from VT to L.A. by truck.

For that money I would have DRIVEN it to L.A. for ya!

I wonder if there's a size limit to how much they'd think it looks like 'a bike.' I've been thinking I have a couple smaller Eden speakers I could try to sell if the shipping wasn't outrageous...

They mention a weight limit of 100lbs. But that’s about it

I’ve thought about that. I don’t think it would be a problem as long as it’s not outrageous. Maybe the only box I had available to ship a bike was the size of a 410. Unless they x-ray it FedEx will never know.

I don’t think anyone at FedEx looks at or cares what’s in your package so long as it’s not dangerous materials.

I realize this is a probable “no”, but @Bob Clayton would you consider putting this at the top of “Basses for sale” as a sticky? I have a feeling plenty in there have no idea this exists.

Honestly, after speaking with the owner, they don't care if it's a bike or not. The service was started with the intention of shipping bikes but they are happy for anyone with a bulky item to ship with them.

Honestly bikes have a bigger audience than basses or tubas so TubaShip wouldn't have worked as well. :D

I’ll admit to using ShipBikes for an electric motor last week. I rehabbed my grandfather’s old 1947-49 drill press, and it was pointed out to me that it had the wrong motor. Someone on Facebook offered a more period Craftsman motor for $20. The price he got for shipping from the Post Office for 18 lb., 11” x 8” x 8” was over $50. I was able to use ShipBikes and get the shipping down to $27, with pick-up from the seller’s door. I sent the seller the link to the label, he printed and applied it, and it was done.

Wish I saw this last week. Shipped a bass from East to west coast then back again (restoration). It was over $100 each way. And I’m an avid cyclist no less and didn’t know about it. Fooey
