Don't worry, I'll figure out something for 2020
Absolutely.I would pay to attend, I'd be surprised if anyone had a problem with that, it's always a really good time.
That sounds like a great idea! Or perhaps if people paid $20 (for example) to get in, and then automatically got a raffle-like ticket for donated items?Oh man, I had no idea it was such a losing proposition for you. I’d happily buy tickets if it helps at all.
Once a year some of the pedal breeders hold an auction for an epilepsy research charity and it’s all run off people donating pedals. Maybe we could donate some small gear things or swag to be auctioned off to help pay for it? Last year was the first time I got to go and it was a blast. Hope there’s a way to make it work again.

Really? That's so bizarre to me. I'll happily pay for entrance and for food... and for beer!Good to know guys - however, keep in mind, we're in a bit of a microcosm here on talkbass. A lot of people didn't want to even pay for the food last year

I think @Passinwind has a place he usually uses for a PDX-area GTG. I welcome everyone, of course, but I think there's great benefit to having one in Seattle-area and another in PDX-area.Man! I wish my building in Oregon (a bit southwest of Portland) was safe enough to host something like this. But it being a brick with plaster walls built in 1932, the bass will make it come crumbling down. Plus my ballroom is hollow and few power outlets.

Yep. Given how much it cost me to do the hotel thing and everything else, that stuff is drop in the the bucket and well worth it. I'm just weighing up how to handle this for the next GTG I host out here, which is likely to be in October I think.
I'll make that drive, and I'm happy to check out potential venues or bug people in the Portland area.
Might have to make the trek too!The Hood River venue is only an hour from downtown Portland and it's right off I-84.
Might have to make the trek too!
Been through Randle quite a few times, but never to head south. Might have to try it!Ever done the back way through Randall and Trout Lake? The road conditions vary a lot year by year, but it can be a really beautiful drive if you're not in a hurry.
Hey all, we're doing a GTG this year after all! November 23rd (Saturday) at a sweet new performance space/bar/restaurant in Shoreline. Details here:
