"_______ doesn't get enough love around here!"

The one that leaps to mind for me is Klaus Voorman. Most people think of hm for his artwork, but he played bass on some pretty major records: his work on Plastic Ono Band alone, but he was in a brief band called Paddy, Klaus and Gibson that had a few great tunes, then Mandred Mann, then did John, George and Ringo's early solo stuff, the concert for Bangaldesh and some Nilsson stuff. He also played the signature bass introduced on "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon.

...couple more doublers-
Buster Williams
Tony Dumas
Better known for their URB playing...nice jazzy/funky playing on EB, nonetheless.

How about Tom Fowler from Zappa's band?

Two of my favorite California bassists are Trevor Lindsey and Jayme Lewis.
You name it and they can do it (incredible musicality)!
Both bassists are true professionals!

Trevor Lindsey - Has the tightest most articulate slap tone I've ever heard.

Jayme Lewis - His fingerstyle and tapping is sick!
Start at 3:24 mark

Below is a very short list of bassists that are not loved enough on TB, in my opinion:
  • Tommy and Randy Debarge
  • Leon Sylvers III
  • Sonny Thompson
  • David Dyson
  • Reggie Parker
  • Adam Blackstone
  • Jonathan Maron
  • Ricky Kinchen
However, if I were to write a full list, it would probably include about a 100 names, if not more.

I once mentioned Leon Sylvers as being underrated. Tommy DeBarge also deserves a lot of recognition.

Besides Marcus Miller, David Dyson is my second favorite bass player. I love soulful and funky bass players!

George McArdle..... Have a YouTube random 70's songs playlist. Happy Anniversary comes on by Little River Band (not usually my thing).... And this fellow is just rocking some bass. Did a quick Google search on the man. Seems he was voted Best Bassist by the Australian Music Awards.... Dang, that man has that bass talking on that tune!
