I also have a Q10X-D, of which I don't seem to have a good picture handy.

And, just because it may be of interest to this group, here's a picture of a Bag End cabinet I used to own: a D15B-B:

This was not a regular production cabinet but I checked with Bag End and they confirmed that they made some as special orders. It was like two S15B cabs in one box. Probably the best sounding cabinet I've heard, but due to its shape it was nigh-impossible to get up and down the stairs of my house. I traded it to another TB member; he may chime in if he still has it.

Hi, I found a BagEnd S15 (can't recall the designation, but it was the red carpet type) at one of the local pawnshops for $225, is that a good price? Its the cube design 15...lol my experience with BE is limited to searches here but they seem like well made products, and I'd love to get it if its a good deal. Thanks!

Also, I've never bought anything from a pawnshop, assuming I do get it, is there anything I should keep in mind (aside from obviously trying it out before buying it). Thanks again! :)

$225 is a fair price for an S15 in good working condition. Average used is between $200-275. Look through the port in the back and make sure that "Bag End" is on the sticker on the back of the speaker magnet. It should also say "Bag End" and "S15-D" on the jack plate and there will be a serial number stamped into the plate as well. If any of those items are out of line, it's not original and not worth it. Offer him $100 at that point. I have seen a few alleged "Bag End" cabs in my day, some of them pretty scary looking.

iirc, that is a production cab from a long time ago. i scored an old bag end catalouge on ebay which has some pretty weird cabs in it, including every cab you see in the dead's wall of sound.

A great used buy is the old SWR Bigfoot 212 cabinet. IIRC these must be about the first of the 212s for bass. Anyway, one of the best kept secrets is that these cabinets have Bag End drivers in them - and they go for a song on the used market. I used to run an SVT2 into two of these for a killer sound and I still have one. After years of hard work the Bag End drivers still sound as good as new.

That T-40, Acoustic, and Bag End rig has got to be a strong contender in the heaviest, literally, bass/head/cab combo ever. :bassist:

Well well well, I do believe I need to partake in this fine club!

Ever pair the S15b-d with an S15-d? Do they compliment eachother or should a guy stick to going with two S15-d's?

Mike

the s15, s15l (formerly s15cus) and s15B all have a different vibe, the s15l is the same size as the 210B cab. the s15B is huge, i think the same dimensions as the cabs phil used in the wall of sound.

tonally they're all a bit different. the s15 has a bit more mids than the other two. but they sound great together. i really haven't found a bag end combo i don't like. My gas list at the moment is a pair of the s10 cabs, maybe one with a coax.

Thanks! I bought an older EV-loaded S15 on a whim and have decided to pair it up with another BE, I'm just not sure which route to take. I've got lines on a coax and one of the S15b's. In either case, I'm worried about the drivers not complimenting eachother.

Those rigs are hot man!

All numbers are updated!

I bought a Bag End 18 on Friday and I am just floored by it

I was trying out amps. looking for a single 15 and plugged in this 18 on the whim of my friend who was with me and I was instantly hooked.

I wanted something to go below a Trace 410 when I bought a Classic 400, afraid I would blow the Trace running a 400w tube amp into it alone.

But I have been running the B\E alone for most of the last few days without the Trace because it sounds soooooo good. I can't believe a 1x18 with no tweeter can be used stand alone and sound completely full range.

I am now a Bag End fan
