GuitarOutlet.com is operated by Empire Music. We offer great deals on inventory that we get directly from manufacturers that we work with.

We have purchased a large quantity of great Dean and Luna guitars and basses directly from the factory with incredible pricing. These guitars are considered used and do not include factory warranty.

These instruments will likely have light play wear, some minor blemish or cosmetic flaw. Any issue with the frets/necks will be addressed by our techs and the play-ability and action of the guitar will be listed in the listing.

So the Edge Pro 5 came in yesterday along with a Laney Digbeth Pre Amp I ordered, and man I gotta say I am VERY pleased with the bass. Plays just and sounds as good as something like a Spector Ethos, I haven’t even set it up yet and I already enjoy playing it. The B string is nice and clear and the pre amp is very usable, the boosts and cuts aren’t too drastic. The neck profile is a little thicker then I thought it would be but it feels good. The bass as a whole honestly feels great, I’ve had basses that cost nearly 10 times as much as what I payed for it so I was kinda dreading what I’d think about it when it came in, but it honestly is a great instrument.

I had plugged into my interface last night along with the Digbeth Pre and they worked great in tandem. I’d recommend Both an Edge Pro 5 and Digbeth Preamp to anyone (I already knew I’d dig the Digbeth since I have the amp head version and love that thing).

On the edge I bought... Yes that was new. Off ebay, from out of LA at a time when they were still plentiful, I paid $899. I like it, but it was a back up after the retired railroad worker girated onto a 5 guitar stand at a gig. I only needed the edge for a month or so. And the thing is that my favorite, the rhapsody has something going on electronics wise that just makes it a tone monster. I get the tones I love out of it. Even the donor which was 9 #'s off from my first 5er just didn't have "it".

On the cabby... I don't know, they are something special, but a bit flambouant. I sold my eab due to the fact they're so dam thick at the body (medical shoulder problems stretching out over that thick thing) and that the stylist is pretty much just as loud unplugged. I like the stylist a lot, but it typically takes extra mneasure to get what I want out of it with out the feedback you get in a hollow body when you're playing a high powered rig. Back in the day, the stylist was $320 new. That's a steal as well.

The wood on these tiger eye edges is stunning.
As opposed to neck repair as the railroad worker wanted to do to satisfy me, I took his $250, added to it and bought the donor just for the neck.
My beloved rhapsody is on the left, the donor is parts now. And I like the wood grain better anyway.

Last one standing. Sold all my other basses and the Mule is the only one left and now my favorite.

Took it off the market and decided to get serious with a new string retainer and shim the neck for some ultra low even action.

It’s my keeper and I’m actually glad it didn’t sell.

When you posted it here for sale I never realized you were selling all your other basses. How many other basses did you own?

I had 3 total. A modded SBMM and a classic Reverend Mercalli.

Unfortunately when they sold, the Mule was disassembled because I was planning to drop in a new pre and pickups.

So I wired it back together a week ago and finished the work today with that new string tree, which should have been something on the bass since the beginning.

It plays real nice after a good setup and doesn’t sound to bad either.

Here’s another angle of the hipshot string retainer I put on. the original tree just held the D and G strings and the A and E were at a horrible break angle and made lots of noise when played, even with a fretwrap.

It’s amazing how such a little thing can improve the overall feel.

Hi All, first time post so be gentle :)

I have been handed this lovely looking Dean Bass guitar which was in need of some love (these pics are pre-love) It needed a good clean up, strings and the old battery had been left in for ages so the terminals needed some attention. Other than that it seems lovely. I have tried to find the model, and all I can find is an old listing for a similar looking bass in red, it looks like it may be an Edge Q4 with Tribal Inlay?

Looking for some guidance as to the model and any other feedback would be appreciated, I have a Jazz, a Rivoli and a Rivoli ii (don't ask!) so this could add something different.

Many thanks in advance
Nick

That’s a Dean Vendetta which is basically a Dean Edge 4 with a carved top, razor wire inlay, different headstock shape and gorgeous quilted maple top.

I own three. One Trans Amber and two Trans Red.

One Trans Red is modified with a full EMG pup/preamp system.

Great playing necks if you like them thin and narrow.

Also, yours must be a last year model before being discontinued as it has the ‘normal’ Edge headstock.

Additionally, yours is Trans Blue having faded to a shade I’d call ‘Aqua’.

All of Dean’s Trans Blue basses seem to fade to Trans Aqua.

Here’s a search of things I’ve posted about this bass in this thread over the years: https://www.talkbass.com/search/2035682/?q=Vendetta&t=post&c[thread]=424546&c[users]=B-Mac&o=date
