I like my dreams to be achievable, unobtainium doesn't bring happiness or peace of mind. Amps that I know only from internet pictures, but have never heard in the wild, somehow don't do nothing for me. So I am going for

Ampeg V4B

I tried it a few times and loved it. It doesn't break the bank and is reasonably portable. If I find a band again and "settle down" in a rehearsal space, I'll get that thing.

I already own my "dream" head-- a DNA 1350!

Having said that, I'm still flirting with the idea of a "modular" rig, which would utilize a power amp, set of cabs, and whatever preamp pedal I feel is appropriate for the gig.

For a "stereo" set-up, I'd love to do a pair of customized Revsound RS410VT's in "mirrored" configuration...

...driven by a hypothetical bass version of Seymour Duncan's Powerstage 700, but with the 3-band EQ swapped for HPF and LPF controls...

...with the preamp being whatever I feel like using, though my Darkglass ADAM would likely be the default.

I have that DNA-1350's little brother, the DNA-800, which also has the built-in compressor with adjustable threshold and ratio, as well as both a DNS-210 and a DNS-410 cab. Does not have the side chain capability though.

Here's my DNA-800. Puts out 400-watts rms into 8Ω, and 800-watts into either 4Ω or 8Ω. Weighs just 4.8-lbs. and is dead quiet because it doesn't use a fan.

David's factory was out of stock waiting on parts when I ordered my DNA-800 in April of 2021, but David said he had enough parts himself to build one for me if I could wait for a couple of weeks. I waited; he sent it; and he signed it for me too.

Here's a shot of the DNS cabs with my Eden WT500/800 amp before I bought my DNA-800 amp. That particular Eden amp I bought directly from David Nordschow (aka: David Eden) in 2010 after he left Eden to start his new company DNA. It was the amp he used to design all the Eden cabs from 1999 until he left Eden in 2009. Love that amp, but it weighs about 36-lbs in its rack, so my DNA-800 does most of the gigs.

If money was no object, that would mean I'm independently wealthy and have no need to work. Therefore, I would just build my own, which has been a dream since before college in the 90's and one of the big reasons I became an electrical engineer. Sadly, between working for a living, playing music as a close second to my engineering career, raising a family, and general life responsibilities, building my own amp is far down the list of priorities at this point, despite having the knowledge, skills, and almost 40yrs of bass playing background to do it.
