Farewell Pawn Stars

I've mentioned it here before, there is a movement amongst media and providers to dumb down the population. Move the charmless* that broadcast intelligent content to premium-level packages and reinvent the current "smart" channels to cater to dummies. I remember when A&E was a decent station, and The Discovery Channel also.
And TLC was called, "The Learning Channel", they used to show surgeries and other neat science shows.
The knee surgery was funny because at one point the knee squirted out liquid a good distance and the surgeon just jams his finger in the hole.
I still get a good laugh at that.

Being from Alabama, where setting high profile people up to ruin them has been elevated to a high art form, i'm wondering why Chum's house was raided and searched on suspicion of sexual assault? I could see it if they had enough evidence to bring charges, but as part of an ongoing investigation? And the raid produced nothing related to the given justification for the search warrant. You would think they would have asked him down to the station house for an initial interview before going full on SWAT on his home.

Simply mentioning someone in the same sentence as sexual assault puts a lot of do gooders and self appointed hall monitors on the bear fat torches and pitchfork committee, but toss in a bevy of drug and weapons charges and poor old Chum is already guilty in the court of public opinion. Six months or a year from now when he pays a fine for misdemenor drug possession after the sexual assault charge proved groundless and the weapons charge is dropped as part of a plea deal, it won't even make the paper and tons of people will go to their grave convinced Chum is some kind of drug addict rapist thug when his only real crime was being a little too well known.

I too wondered about the home search warrant given the nature of the investigation. I'm not a lawyer but I have a buddy here at TB who is. Mind if I give him a call?

Did I read some of these posts correctly that there are people (entire families) who suddenly wouldn't visit the store because it's least important character got caught up in some as yet to be determined legal trouble? That seems a little pre judgy

I really liked H2. Direct TV replaced it with some really disgusting, offensive channel that glorifies the worst of humanity. Can't remember the name.
Without having access it Ancient Aliens, how will I know when they show up at my door?
Comcast replaced it too, with a channel called 'Viceland"; just the name of the channel will keep me away.

If Viceland is from the creators of Vice magazine, then I wish I still had cable! Their documentaries of dark subject matter are informative and done really well. There's a bunch of them on YouTube already.

It wasn't the providers. I read an article where A&E, the parent company, dropped H2 altogether. They replaced H2 with Vice.
A&E shows this vile crap, but doesn't want the Duck Dynasty praying on camera. Tells me all I need to know.

IANAL.

My take on a scenario that would fit this chain of events: Chumlee is too overweight to be a typical meth head. So why did he possess meth? Because he was accused of using it to coerce sexual favors from girls that are meth heads. If true, this would make him a dealer and a predator. The only thing that would makes this sleazier to me would be if the alleged victims are minors.

Chum has not yet been charged with any sexual misconduct, these are just random musings by a bass player that should be practicing.

My complete wild guess is that they picked up a meth user. They asked her where she got the stuff. Perhaps she is Chumly's ex or some association like that. They smell blood and get the sexual assault comment from her. All she has to do is mention the drugs and a location and they get an arrest and search warrant. Girl goes home. Chumly becomes focus. Not making any judgement on her story and the assault allegation. If it happened she deserves justice. The point is you have to go from an assault allegation to search for drugs somehow.

There are reportedly 19 separate drug charges pending against Chumlee in the case, which lends some credence to the theory the drugs were packaged separately, implying a possible intent to distribute.

Possibly. Sure.

I hear that users often face different charges that are intended for dealers. They use every tool they can. I've never heard of a prosecutor playing fair.
