FREE Software Thread - Utilities & Applications You Cannot Live Without

I got tired of the increasing bloated-ness of Adobe Reader, so I tried the alternatives. In my testing, this one is the winner: http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sumatrapdf/free-pdf-reader.html

It's fast, small footprint, smaller attack surface for malware, and it's not a resource hog.

Mike, I quite agree. The reason I used to think I didn't like the PDF format turned out to be Adobe Reader - such a cumbersome liability. Sumatra is very small, lightning-fast, and makes perusing PDFs a pleasure. Highly recommended.

Lately I've needed to save web pages for some things I've been studying, and have found it's really tedious to save them all one by one, and I've had no luck making the archived pages link to one another successfully. I found a program called httrack which will archive a page, all of its images, as well as every page that it links to. You can also set the depth of links, meaning it will follow all the links on all the pages your original page links to up to a certain number.

They've got their own forums and community, and Norton's website says the program is safe.

Anybody here still using Avast antivirus? I've been running AVG for a while but haven't been crazy about it.

It's on every computer I own, and every computer my kids own.

And for a free startup monitor, I use WinPatrol Explorer. http://www.winpatrol.com/ This works well and has warned me about any number of sneaky programs that tried to do a Startup install.

I thought of an app I'd like to recommend to a friend of mine, but I don't know if any such app exists for Android. My friend works 10pm to 6am, so he's a day sleeper. He constantly gets calls and texts from friends and family that can't seem to get through their head he needs to sleep and would appreciate a few hours of shut-eye. However, his dad is very elderly and he wants to keep phone availability for emergencies for the dad.
My question: is there an app that will block calls and texts from EVERYBODY, ideally on some kind of timer (so it would automatically stop blocking after, say, 4 or 5 hours) and then be able to pick and choose among contact list who you want to maintain availability? An app like that seems ideal for someone like my friend who wants to stay alert for emergencies, to provide peace of mind while day sleeping.
If there isn't any such app, there ought to be.
Anyway, my friend is not good with apps and such, and the searches I did with Google turns up blocking apps that perform close, but not like I asked for above.
So I thought I'd ask you guys...thanks in advance.

I'm in the exact same situation as your friend. I sleep fro 4 am untill noon.
And when my brother was sick, I needed to get the calls from his wife.

The good news there is such an app.
The better news?
